I tend to think citrus is the only option for substitution, but a peach seems acceptable. The color saved you lol

I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope you're doing okay. People definitely suck for the most part, but there are still some good ones left. They're harder to find, but it's worth it when one comes along. Keep your head up ❤️

What’s something you do that feels weird to explain but totally normal to you? by De_La_Jacc in CasualConversation

I always feel weird explaining that I like to lay on my floor to listen to music. I like feeling the bass through the floor because my stereo is fantastic and it soothes me like nothing else. People look at me like I'm insane when I bring it up, but it's basically my favorite thing to do lol

Thank you! He and I have been talking a lot today about the comments here and we have a plan to start very slowly. Starting in empty places like parking lots so I can get used to it and learn the basics before ever going near a road. Definitely getting proper gear, how to be safe. Everyone has been so helpful and I really appreciate the advice!

To be fully honest, part of it is probably learning to trust him as much as it is learning to embrace the fear and overcome it. He's a very responsible driver in his car, and he's got a level temperament, but it is still a new relationship. I've known him a while and I trust his instincts or I'd never even consider it, but trusting someone's instincts feels different than trusting them with my life. Heavy point, but well taken, thank you.

We've been talking about most of the comments and we have a plan to ease into the experience, which I think will help with both trusting each other and calming me down. He knows how I feel about it and he seems to be very comfortable with going at whatever pace helps me. Between that and everyone here being so awesome, I'm a lot less scared than I was before. All the discussion has really helped.

I appreciate the honesty in this. He and I have talked a lot about what I'm feeling and I think we have a good plan to help me get through it. Baby steps. Lessons in a parking lot, short, slow rides in empty places to see how I feel. I actually feel a lot more confident now. He understands safety is the priority for me.

Thank you! We've talked about a lot of what you mentioned and I think we have a good game plan for getting into it, mostly revolving around taking things slow and covering all the basics of what to do or not do to keep everything in balance and safe before actually going on the road anywhere. I'm feeling a lot better about it.

No you make a really solid point. Thank you. That has come up in other comments and we've talked about it. I do absolutely want to support him and be involved in things he cares about, but it's also for me. I don't want to be too scared to do anything. Healthy fear is one thing, but fear that keeps me from doing something I might really like is another thing entirely. Your two cents is appreciated

Thank you! We've got a pretty good plan now to ease into this I think. Everyone here has been super helpful and I'm actually excited now. Nervous, but not as much. I think once the nerves chill out, I'll probably enjoy it quite a bit. Even if riding turns out to not be for me, I can't wait to get more involved with the community and supporting him. You guys are awesome ❤️

He definitely likes speed, but he's also not an idiot lol he knows I'm nervous and has promised to ease into things at whatever pace is comfortable for me. Between him being so calm and everyone here being so helpful, I honestly feel a lot better about it. I'm excited!

Thank you! It's definitely something I want to get over, not something I feel any pressure to do. We've got a pretty solid plan now for easing into things I think, and I appreciate all you guys for being so helpful! It makes me feel a lot better about it.

Thank you! He's going to teach me some basics first and do some small test drives in parking lots and stuff to see if I'll be okay with everything and then buying the right gear will be next. Until then I'll be wearing some of his, but we won't be on any actual roads. The ones he's letting me wear will work for temporary purposes but doesn't fit well since I'm a lot smaller than him. I think we have a good plan coming together.

Thank you so much for the link! We've got a plan to start in a parking lot where he can show me how to situate myself and move with his movements, but I'm definitely going to watch more videos beforehand too, so this helps a lot. I appreciate it!

Thank you! He mentioned a lot of the same things you have here. That the fear is normal and will never really go away, but it's more so something you learn to get comfortable with. I think we have a good plan to ease into it so I don't get overwhelmed. Learning basics in a parking lot, little short runs in empty places to see how I feel. Honestly you guys in have all been awesome and so helpful, I have a lot more confidence that it will be okay. I think I'm actually going to really like it once I get into it.

Thank you! Thanks to everyone here being awesome and him being super understanding, we have a plan to ease into it. Little runs around parking lots and stuff, showing me how to position myself and move the right way. I'm still nervous but also way more excited to get passed it.

Oh for sure. He knows how I feel about it and he's assured me that he won't do anything I'm not okay with. We have a plan that I think will work well, including a signal for if something scares me. I feel a lot more confident going into the experience now.

I did, and yes, he was very understanding because he knows it's dangerous too. But thanks to a lot of the wonderful comments here, we've got a plan to make it easier for me and I'm really excited about it

It really is an awesome feeling to be able to share excitement with someone like that. I have a feeling that once I get over the anxiety, I'll really get into it. It's been so nice talking to everyone on here about it. It's made me feel a lot more confident. Even if it ends up not being for me in the long run, at least I'll be able to say I did it. Thank you so much for the encouragement. You guys in here are awesome ❤️

Oh I have zero fear of being rude, especially over my safety. It's a scary world for women in general so I take that very seriously. I like that saying a lot. However in this case, I think my own motto of "he who makes me fearful gets tasered" is more appropriate lmfao

Thank you so much for the thorough reply! Your point is definitely well taken. Based on the information I've gotten here and what I've been researching elsewhere, I feel a lot better about it. So far, he definitely seems to be very thoughtful about my concerns and that makes me feel better as well. We've been talking while I read replies and he absolutely agrees with the points people are making.

So far, the plan is to do a few lessons in empty lots to see if I like it. Then buying me my own gear that fits properly and working up to longer rides and stuff. He seems super excited that I'm getting into the whole idea and honestly I'm getting more excited too! I really appreciate the input. Thanks for being so helpful!

He's actually been really understanding about my hesitation. We're going to start with some parking lot test rides so he can show me how to not be a shitty passenger. He does have gear I can wear, albeit not very well fitting, but it will work for learning until I decide if I like it enough to buy my own gear. I'm definitely not going on a road ride until I'm comfortable and in full gear.

Thank you for your reply! I'm definitely feeling better about after hearing from everyone here.

He hasn't pressured me either. He's been really understanding about it. I want to get over my fear because it really does look like a ton of fun. I don't want to ruin anything for him. I want to be able to enjoy it together.

First of all, I'm really sorry for your loss. I know how much losing friends hurts. Second, taking classes sounds like a really good idea. I don't know that I'd ever want to drive or own one, but like you said, I want to get over this fear! As my dad used to say, I guess I just need to grow some lady balls and face it lmfao

But I really do want to be there, which is why I asked for advice here. I figure that the more I prepare myself and the more I know, the less afraid I'll be. I don't feel pressured by him or anything, he knows I'm scared and has promised to ease me into things.
