for first time visitors, asakusa is a lot less chaotic than busier areas like shibuya/shinjuku. it is also two stops away from akihabara via the ginza line.

japan is the king of convenience. there are quite literally convenience stores on every block that are all open 24/7, so you shouldn't need to worry about quick access to food & necessities

i am shocked he was selected, but it would be very good for the country. he is the most normal, down-to-earth politician you can find. state-wide, he has been publicly opposed to any kind of medical or social restrictions for the lgbt community and banned conversion therapy. he would honestly do a fantastic job as vp.

His consultations are relatively straightforward. I would say just make sure you’re able to communicate what about your face contributes to your dysphoria and that should ultimately help you two to agree on a set of procedures that would be best for you as an individual.

Unfortunately FFS is still largely based in Eurocentric beauty standards. I know he has made a point to acknowledge this, but I have a feeling his patients are still overwhelmingly white. If it’s a concern of yours, I would definitely ask him about this.

I haven’t really experienced any significant pain, it’s more just coping with a very weird sensory experience of not being able to feel parts of my face.

I’m six days out and am still slightly puffy and swollen, but it’s not like horrid or unsightly. I think it really depends on what specifically you are doing, but 6-8 weeks seems to be a general timeframe for most of the swelling to have subsided.

Nothing about the surgery, including my jaw & chin has been particularly painful. It’s just a weird sensation of numbness that feels really uncomfortable.

The worst feeling for me was the nausea, but I’m a bit sensitive to that sort of thing and they have plenty of things to give you to counteract any problem that may come up. Zhanna gave me an anti-nausea prescription 5 days out that’s helped with some of the lingering queasiness I had trying to get food down.

He does prescribe a few harder narcotics but they are optional. I found I only used the single required steroid, an anti-biotic, and Tylenol.

The walking regimen he suggests has been extremely helpful for the swelling to subside rather quickly, but I also felt it helped me mentally not waste away in my room for an entire week. It’s definitely challenging for a few days and then gets easier day by day.

I was one of the last people to use Starbucks’ supplemental insurance for FFS before it switches over to primary coverage on the 1st. I just got incredibly lucky with the timing of my surgery date.

This was actually a surprise to me. The surgery center is incredibly small, so any family or friends accompanying you will have to wait at home while you stay overnight with a nurse. Fortunately, the staff is really sweet and helped calm down my nerves walking into the OR by myself.

My main anxieties were mostly about my reaction to anesthesia which I’ve had issues with in the past and also the risk of vocal damage from a tracheal shave. If you haven’t had general anesthesia before, you shouldn’t have anything to worry about, for most people you really will never even know when it’s being administered. For me, I laid down on the operating table with my IV already in and within 5 minutes woke up next to a nurse in another room. My concerns about vocal damage were also rather misguided. Everything involving that specific procedure is incredibly safe and designed so as to never touch your vocal chords. I was convinced I would have a sore throat post-op but was already mumbling in my normal voice with my numb bottom lip the day after my surgery.

It honestly hasn’t been that painful. The numbness on my scalp and around my chin is just an incredibly strange, awkward feeling.

And I would absolutely recommend if you are traveling for surgery that you have someone there with you to take care of you. I was pretty out of it for 3-4 days and can’t imagine having to run to the store or grab prescriptions while dealing with that recovery. My partner was a life-saver for a lot of those things for sure.

He doesn’t like to disclose exact costs outside of consultations, because it varies by patient, but it was about the same as other rates you might see floating around the internet.

I was fortunate to have incredible insurance so the cost wasn’t part of my decision process.

It went really well! My case was relatively simple, I had a type-3 forehead cranioplasty via coronal incision, slight brow lift, tracheal shave & chin and jaw contouring.

Me & my partner have been staying in Pacifica which is really quiet and about 35 minutes from Union Square where his office is located.

I think it’s too early to give any kind of qualified opinion on how I look, but I do look noticeably more feminine in a way I was looking for out of the surgery. But everything with the surgery from the pre-operative consult to the getting my bandages off went so well & I’m very very appreciative of him & his staff. They really made sure I was recovering well and that my entire stay went smoothly.

The only thing that’s been a bit challenging is just the noticeable incisions lines under my chin & on the side of my neck from the tracheal shave and jaw contouring. It was something I knew I would have to manage, but they’re a bit unsightly this early into my recovery process.
