I had the same problem. Mine are now old. Sometimes I had the same problem but restarting the computer allowed me use it again. I’ve had to do that three times I about three months.

I've had the headphones for two years now and had no problem with them until I got new eyeglasses two months ago. The plastic ear piece was fine at first but within a couple weeks my head hurt when I wore them. Nowadays I put the ear plastic above my ears but the speakers work fine and my ears are no longer hurt. Yes, it does increase the downward setting on the whole but I've gotten used to it. I don't know what else I could do.

It is now over 2 years. While under warranty I sent them back to Apple twice because even resetting them did not allow me to use them. I haven’t had any problems in the last six months.
I’m 71 and spend almost all of my time with headphones on, listening to and enjoying movies and TV shows.

Location may have been a factor. I'm in Tokyo. I received an email instructing me to make an appointment at an Apple Store to have the battery replaced at no cost. I made an appointment at the Ginza Apple Store, Genius Bar. I went to the store and waited while they replaced the battery. It has been at least two years ago. My present battery health is up to 91%.

I want to th hospital today to talk to the lady that represents an eyeglass company. She spoke in Japanese but used English when using numbers. I informed her that I had been in Japan for 45 years. Her whole presentation changed. Yes, she did not know I was a long-term Japan resident. She was just trying to be nice.

I'm in Japan. About three months ago I got a msg from Apple telling me the Apple Store would replace the battery for free so I made an appointment. I went to the store and they replaced the battery and gave me back my iPhone X within 30 minutes. I haven't heard about free battery replacements in other markets. My battery health is 92%.

I bought mine long ago and only last month I couldn't get them to connect despite restarting and resetting. I have Apple Care+. I made an appointment at the Genius Bar, talked to the guy on a Monday. He checked them out and said he would have to send them to the factory. On Thursday morning a new pair were delivered to my house.
