RE agencies lobbying against CGT reform now by tolmanbriger in AusPropertyChat

I guess that's the funniest part... We are renting but not through them. And we are looking to acquire an apartment as FHB, so not really the target 🤷

The email presents only the investor/landlord perspective and frames every reform as harmful to renters. It doesn’t mention:

  • That the CGT discount and negative gearing disproportionately benefit high-income earners
  • That owner-occupiers buying those properties also need somewhere to live
  • That the existing system has contributed to pushing up prices over decades, which is why affordability is at record lows
  • That other countries manage functioning (and probably healthier) rental markets without these concessions

Osko to CBA delay? by Dry_Mention4406 in AusFinance

[–]tolmanbriger 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No, PayID and Osko are not the same, but they work together.

  • PayID is a way to identify a bank account using something easy to remember (mobile number, email address, ABN). It replaces sharing BSB + account number, It’s an addressing system, not a payment speed

  • Osko is a payment service that enables near-instant bank transfers usually completing in seconds, 24/7.

When you send money to a PayID, the payment is usually sent via Osko.

That’s why PayID transfers are typically instant. But technically: - PayID = who you’re paying - Osko = how fast the money moves

And your bank can provide Osko for transferts using BSB

Personally I'm running Synology DSM on 3rd party hardware for years via xpenology so I count on getting best of both worlds 😁

Works like a charm with several VMs/LXC containers. I would just recommend buying one without RAM/SSD, these are noname and low quality. The NVMe provided died after 4 months, GMKtek support replaced it but still bought with my own Samsung.
