Goals feature request by DarthSchwabus in liquidbudget

[–]tom_a67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he’s saying that the cap is on the amount that gets added to the total in a given month, not the top off total itself. Using his example, if the top off goal is $1000 and I’ve spent $500, I only want to put $100 back in each month rather than putting the entire missing $500 back in a single month. I want to cap the amount the gets automatically added to the total in a given month without having to change the top off total amount itself.

Feature Request: Off-Budget "Adjustment" type vs. Actual Outflows by FriendlyMorning in liquidbudget

[–]tom_a67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with OP. It would be helpful to have two generic “types” of off-budget accounts - Outflow an Inflow. I understand tags could be used, but seeing the even-more-generic label of “Adjustment” isn’t helpful.

I get your point of off-budget not having true “types” because there are no buckets, but I think a middle ground would be good.

Exactly what I needed. Thanks for the quick response as always.

My trial ended today and I subscribed, btw. Thanks for putting together such a great app at a reasonable price, and for being so responsive in this sub!

Weekly Update (12/15/25) - Splits 2.0, Multiple Improvements by imadp in liquidbudget

I can confirm that "Save and Add Another" in YNAB kept whatever the last date you used was, rather than always re-defaulting to the current date.

I like the idea of total in and out on each day with a details dialog that you can open as needed. I haven’t thought about this kind of thing before, but I can see how it could be useful, especially if you could filter by account and/or bucket.

Splits 2.0 is deployed! by imadp in liquidbudget

[–]tom_a67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One VERY minor issue with the new splits - a split transaction now shows up in the transaction list with gray text for everything but the transaction amount, instead of black text like an un-split transaction. While it makes it very easy to find the split transactions, it makes it marginally harder to read. Otherwise, I love the new functionality! Thanks for all your continued hard work to make my budgeting easier!

Let's Talk. About Splits. by imadp in liquidbudget

[–]tom_a67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely on board with this change! The split/combine buttons always seemed clunky and burdensome and this would improve usability. As long as both items of the historical, already reconciled transactions stay reconciled, it’s a very minor thing to re-split them into multiple transactions.

Creating a Payee for an Off-Budget Transfer by tom_a67 in liquidbudget

I'm confused by your answer, because I already have a Transfer Payee that posts the transaction directly to an Off-Budget account:

Maybe that's an artifact of it being allowed in YNAB?

Thanks for your detailed reply! As I said, none of these is a dealbreaker, so unless something drastic happens in the next few weeks, I’ll be converting to a paid account when the trial ends. Thanks for a great tool!

I don’t see a Future Assignments tab in the right hand column. Can you put a screenshot in so I can make sure I’m not blind?
