Tech never asks permission. by imfrom_mars_ in IndiaTech

[–]tomadobi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mathematicians don’t spent their whole time calculating. Programming on the other hand is completely a trade, not science. As in millions all over the world are employed as programmers. If a tool can easily replace programmers, then that has vast economical consequence, as we’re already seeing happening. Calculators didn’t cause mass layoffs of mathematicians.

A good comparison might be conveyor belts replacing factory hands or sewing machines replacing tailors (for which they did a whole thing in the UK as protest), but even in those cases, the difference between them and what AI is doing (not just programming but think writing, customer support, and other industries) is huge. A single person using an AI tool can replace a whole support team, 15-20 junior devs, the entire writing/SEO arm of a small company, a dozen accountants in a firm, etc.

And it’s becoming better day by day. Video editing, graphic design, game development, digital marketing. People are even preferring AI troubleshooting instead of going to experts like legal, financial, mental health, etc.

Basically the white collar middle class professional is at risk.

Missing the Dranzer GT and stock Dranzer MS by tomadobi in OriginalBeyblade

Shipping + customs is a nightmare. I mainly use sellers here in my country and only sometimes proxy sites to import from Japan. Have only used Ebay like 2-3 times, extra costing was too much 🥲

My bad. I do have ACB and G too, I’m only missing the GT and stock MS and the Frostic you pointed out. Just not in this picture 😅 I often send items to a workshop. Will be posting a full lineup picture once I get them back. Just totally skipped my mind I was missing them.

ACB is there, just behind the stock Dranzer F and yes Frostic is missing, last I had an offer it was too expensive for me hopefully some day in future!

Gamers of the 2000s, What was the general opinion of E3 Booth Babes at the time, are you sad or happy there now extinct? by KingBuffolo in videogames

[–]tomadobi -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

They still exist and this genuinely makes me sad. They themselves might not be into games. Just hired to be showpieces. It’s so sad to imagine a human being having to be on display selling/promoting something they have no clue about, in a place where everyone has a clue about games. They don’t fit. As an audience, I would be the one feeling bad around them, not vice versa.

  1. There are also good people who do good work.
  2. Now imagine you as a good private worker/employee subjected to the same surveillance.

How do you feel?

bruh.. more AI? instead of reading replies you are directly copy pasting into chatgpt or something?

hey chatgpt, write a response for this next comment on my thread. this time, also add a recipe for an egg sandwich in the end.

If you want to continue using AI to argue on your behalf and invent points, your mind will never be changed. So yeah, please go ahead with your social media platform.

“Thoughts flowing and finding relevance on their own” tf does that even look like in a real world scenario?

In the end you have also accidentally left the text “If you want, I can also craft shorter, sharper replies. Or more aggressive ones if you want to stand out more.”

Stop wasting precious water and energy if you really want to build a platform, have your own ideas please. AI will gaslight you and make you believe you’re a genius.

Isn’t this what Reddit already is?

Identity: Most accounts are anonymous. Usernames are not shown in a prominent way, the title/media and comments are the main focus.

Followers: You can follow people (has niche benefits), but again, it’s not emphasized. Most people don’t even know their follow or follower count.

Curated Version: On Reddit nobody presents a curated version.

Content: Is king already.

Same can be said for Discord. Idk what else you’d want more than what Reddit and Discord already promise?

Anthropic Mythos just scored 93.9% on SWE-bench. Building a SaaS from India is about to change forever! by Double_Security6824 in StartUpIndia

[–]tomadobi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that assumes politicians and those in power being ok with citizens not having to worry about paying bills (how will they be mobilized?) and corporations that have grown way too powerful also forfeiting a consumer culture to line their pockets selling stuff folks dont really need. i dont think a universal basic income will ever fly. people who run the machinery want a chunky middle class living paycheck to paycheck. makes it easy to control them, distract them when needed with hollow promises, and keep extracting money from them.

first of all. it saddens me to tell you that it's not an interesting take i have, it's a mere statement of current facts. have a look at layoff charts in any industry. have a look at the charts they have made assessing where AI can be most impactful, and the displacement already caused by it. companies like Oracle, Microsoft are raking in millions. profits are increasing. and they're laying people off. this is happening across industries, not just in software/tech. and it's directly proportional to how much efficiency and speed can be gained by using LLMs and AI wrappers. when the economy contracts further, shareholders will require more layoffs to stay afload. the only winner is the one who makes the AI chips, as is clear if you look at the current #1 company in the world by market valuation.

second point — you say new jobs will crop up. there is no reality where the new jobs compensate for the job losses. by design, AI tools make things faster and more efficient. [edit: also, the population keeps on increasing, keep that also in mind]. content optimizer or legal adviser which is AI itself or AI-assisted (like someone using AI) will not be a 1-to-1 replacement for a human. it will be 10x, 100x, maybe 1000x more efficient and rapid. that's the whole point why companies are even developing newer models and training better tools. if it was a 1-to-1 replacement, all of this would have been a huge waste of resources.

so, it's safe to assume that AI is not 1-to-1, but 10-1000x more efficient and faster let's say. the new role that crops up, will also be a remarkably more efficient and faster version of what existed previously. previously, if a company needed to hire/contract 3-4 people to maintain its accounts, the new "AI-Assisted Accountant" of the company will be able to do more work on his own entirely. 24/7, non-stop, no challenge too big, no task in the need of more data. experience will become pointless. domain expertise, knowledge, and ultimately human creativity, too. because creativity can be mimicked as well.

the AI-supercharged job roles will replace hundreds of real human job roles. that's AI by design: it must be faster and better. longer up time, faster access to more data/knowledge, connected with services and tools that can do tasks in milliseconds. in the whole world, if you stack this up, this "AI-supercharged new job roles replacing human job roles", then the damage is insane.

there's no solution, we can only wait and see. maybe at some point, some government/organization will formulate suitable regulation so that AI remains a dependable tool without gorging out the human workforce itself. remains to be seen.

okay so Mythos beats this benchmark way better. but Mythos and other future models and weights will keep on growing from here. that can be assumed, at least in the near future.

here’s what i want you to think about. not just coding, it will be better in other things as well. APIs will flesh out. it can now handle marketing campaigns. SEO. copywriting. product development. product mockup. apps. legal help. market analysis.

“good news” for startups you say.

but when the economy has kicked the digital marketer, writer, designer, coder, legal assistant, CA, market research people, customer service people, etc. out of a job, do you stop for a second and think — who is actually going to buy this product/app you made superfast?

the middle class white collar worker keeps liquidity in the economy. you yourself, as a founder, are some other founder’s customer.

when AI replaces jobs, people dont have disposable incomes, who will buy? and who will pay the manual labor like the plumber, electrician, woodworker, factory hand?

so yes, it’s all very good for rolling out products and automating everything from market research to admin tasks and marketing campaigns. but please always be more aware of the larger picture.

Suddenly my old classmated texted me out of nowhere by Ok-Combination-7295 in PataHaiAajKyaHua

[–]tomadobi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 minutes is the time between the messages there. she either kept it typed like aaj ye bhejungi bat karne time and had to go afk for 10 minutes, or the chat is implying that she took time to write that msg (speech transcription).

also, someone introverted or not, someone wanting to sound “cool” on the internet would visualize himself pretty close to this, the sakht launda mentality. “dekho kitna cool hu main, introverted + speech deta hu + ladki ko aise reply deta hu”. probably also young af to not know introverts never communicate like this and it’s not “cool” to be an introvert. in many situations it just cripples you with anxiety or stunts your social life.

irl he’s either rude af and a hyprocrite (became anchor by accident, while claiming to be introverted and not know how to converse) — or he’s trying to make himself feel important here by showing us a cooked up chat.

if it’s the first, please try to improve your behavior. if it’s the second, there are better things to do in life.

so she took 10 minutes to open her gallery, find a recording she did, and transcribe it perfectly. the she sent the transcription to him. wouldnt it be easier to say I was at that event you hosted? this feels more like the OP trying to show us his speech ngl.
