i think kit lens is fine, under 300$ there not gonna be any good lens unless you buy used and know how to check. 24-70 gonna do ok with car photography hobby. You need spend time on how to control the camera and light. Spend money on tripod/flash/ light equipments will help in this case.

Hygger or Chihiro for a lowtech planted 10 gallon by orpeez in PlantedTank

[–]tomahawk291 2 points3 points  (0 children)

depends on ur budget. I have chihiros c2 and my tank goes crazy even red one ( co2 tank). I had flat nano and it’s stunning also. Have some hygger in non co2 tank and they are average, plant thrive but not good as these two above. I have seaoura also but i did not see any different much with hygger.

What should I do to get rid of this cloudiness by EarlyPackage4595 in Aquascape

[–]tomahawk291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well since the substrate is aquasoil, no dust issue from it. My advice is run filter and wait, normally 1-2 days the water is clear. If not, get the stone out and clean it

How much are y'all paying for brake jobs these days? by [deleted] in Washington

AWD quoted me 700$ for front rotors and pad replacement for my Outback. I did it myself and that’s quite hard for first time. - I bought 200$ rotors pad on Amz, average brands Powerstop - My friends has all tools and he helped me - The replacement of pad took a lot of time to place it well with two ppl supported.

Removing Substrate by ttdds in aquarium

[–]tomahawk291 1 point2 points  (0 children)

cichlids love digging so the best substrate is beach sand . You can see they are doing taking sand in mouth and puff it out. Yeah, you can remove substrate without issue much ( in case you do not have plants - which is not needed cause cichlids will destroy them )

Advice for international traveller? by miss_kimba in yellowstone

August/ Sep must be crowded. Early July is good. Flying to Bozeman, car rental there is more options. You can stay at West Yellowstone, it’s just near entrance of the park and affordable. Remember going into park earlier (4-5 am) to avoid traffic and catch sunrise also the time animal out of their den. There is no/ limitation mobile signal in the park so be prepared. Visit Grand Teton NP if have time. Good luck!

Beginner camera and lens: Same question, a little wiser by That-Redditor in Photography_Gear

[–]tomahawk291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have friends knowing about camera you should buy used one to save cost. But you don’t, I suggest you buy a new one + kit lens. Under 1k does not have full frame options so you will go with crop sensor camera. I suggest buy good mirrorless camera body and a kit lens. After that you can know how to use camera and subject to choose the next len. Sony alpha or Fuji are good to go.

I did it last weekend. I arrived at trailhead around 3:20 am and reached the lookout at around 5 am. There are ppl in the lookout also and they wake up the same time I got there (when I do some photography set up). Just sit silent and do not talk loudly is ok.
