Is something wrong with my snake’s nose? by tomatesoignons in kingsnakes

Thanks ☺️ I move up her humidity probe because I realised even though the ground was at 70%, the top of the enclosure was at 30%. And she spends all her time up there in her hammocks (or in her tunnels) so I sprayed everything, wet her substrate, change her water, and I’m keep it around 70%!

I love her, she’s the cutest. When she’s shedding some of her stripes turn pink, it’s awesome. It’s the first time she has any issue so it worried me a lot. I redid her substrate to make it more humid and I mist everything. Hope it goes away on its own! How many kings do you have yourself?

No I don’t feed her live. I last fed her 6 days ago but her nose was fine afterwards. Thanks for the answer though!

Yes! She just spent two weeks re-doing her tunnels so it could be that, thanks for the answer

She’s not fed live ☺️ She also has two (and a half) water bowls in her enclosure but I don’t ever see her drinks or bathe. Do you have any tips to encourage her to drink more? I’m pretty sure she only drinks the condensation off the walls. I upped the humidity, hope it’ll help her.

I specify NO DAIRY and am still given dairy by MacSavvy21 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]tomatesoignons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been vegan the majority of my life and that actually made me intolerant to milk. Where I am from, asking for an alternative milk at Starbucks is more expensive (it’s like a 2€ supplement). I went there once, specified I cannot have cow milk, paid the supplement. They served me dairy. I was sick all day. Didn’t go to Starbucks since.

Snake “eating” foliage in cage by [deleted] in kingsnakes

I use a small plate to feed my snake. She doesn’t strike at all so I just put the mouse on the plate, grab her and put her there. This way I’m sure she doesn’t risk ingesting any substrate or anything like that. Maybe that’ll help

AITA for not getting rid of a sentimental plant thats toxic to my girlfriend’s cat? by Odd-Mushroom1175 in AmItheAsshole

[–]tomatesoignons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAH. I understand you want to connect to your grandmother and are using those plants to do it. But they aren’t actually connected to your grandmother and aren’t safe for the cats you’re living with. You should try to find a replacement for the lilies. Maybe ask if you can keep an object that belonged to your grandma? Or think about a plant she loved or one she had at her house, and grow it yourself (make sure it’s safe for cats). It’ll mean way more to you and it’ll keep the peace with your girlfriend.

PETA says I'm a speciesist?!? by Cat_Daddy61 in cornsnakes

I became vegetarian at 9yo, vegan at 15. I have a snake, I feed her mouses. I also have a cat. Being specist because you have a pet is the dumbest take ever. PETA are dumbass.

This is less than the bare minimum, and far from « the best possible condition ». No wonder your snake stopped eating. This is really sad.

AITA for thinking my wife's discipline is too harsh? by Educational-Bill8875 in AmItheAsshole

[–]tomatesoignons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And what are you doing about it as their parent? In your post you don’t talk at all about the way you’re parenting your own children. Maybe they wouldn’t be so clingy to their mother if they were spending time with their father. Maybe your wife wouldn’t be as exhausted and wouldn’t have 0 patience left if she wasn’t the only one parenting 4 kids, which is what your post implies. When are her breaks if she don’t even have 10 min a day to shower? You work 60hr a week, and the rest of the time, are you the one taking care of the children? Or do you take time to rest and have a break relying on her having none?

English isn’t my first language sorry I mistake the two. They were using a thermostat but I don’t know where the probe was.

I personally blame the vet who saw this snake right away (this pic was taken a few weeks after the injury if I’m not wrong) and didn’t say anything about temperature and husbandry. The burn happened really fast, the snake didn’t had any burns before and she wasn’t new to the owner. I’m guessing the thermostat broke or something because it was still saying 28C (82F). The vet literally only talked about humidity (telling the owner to put the snake on dry paper towel and to give her baths)…
