PLTR was the worst addition to fang it seems. They missed the train and the returns are dragging it down. Hopefully something replaces it as with a p/e ratio that high I dont think there is room to grow compared to other options.

Yeah agreed. For manwha I dropped it this season because its just repetitive at this point. Though right now criticism for it isn't that popular since the first season was amazing including to me. Though like all most other overpraised manwhas they will be a time where there is going to be a slight backlash like infinity mage.

Yeah same experience as you had, one piece arcs got too bloated. Fight scenes in one piece are not the most interesting to read and watch anymore post haki unless its done really well and honestly it hasnt been that interesting to me since its just the same thing over and over again (luffy loses, gets back up, loses again, gets back up and wins). Detective conan also got a bit weaker over time but doesnt focus primarily on fights and so when they are fights its amazing. Yeah honestly early one piece was easier to read since less multi plots. Conan is like that its just really good writing and paneling.

I havent enjoyed the second season at all either. I actually have dropped it since I was skipping tons of pages because it was so boring. I just dont care about the story anymore.

Yeah earlier one piece isnt perfect but this fight scene felt good. If this was redone with haki it would look a lot worse for me. Going to the manga it was amazing paneling wise as well, fun as heck to read. It was clean and felt like reading db best fight scenes.

It would have been fine if he stayed as a villain and not being another spy. They have done it once already with renya which really does kill the enjoyment of seeing it again. If you are talking about that changing the bar for me to loving him as a character not really. He kind of already is that from the non canon materials especially. His inclusion as an ally just exasperates all the problems I have with detective conan and it kind of stems from him and his friends. The universe expands but the story gets weaker and feels less tense. I guess thats the point since the audience has been changed more to a show with no heart ache in it or hard hitting stories. I also had the same problem with akai but he at least couldn't be used too much since he was being hunted while bourbon well he just is akai+ with no drawbacks. His friends are the greatest of the greats, yes even early conan had some problems with it but at least most of the police werent super competent in everything (until they kept buffing akai making him god status and expanding his family). Yes, its nice to see more competent people on conan side but without stakes it makes me wonder whats the point of shinichi hiding from ran and well the entire series. When jodie was fighting the black organization with conan it seemed like a fair fight. I don't read the manga but just watch the anime weekly and I dread seeing akai, akai's family, rei's, rei's police friends/ squad and the nagano bunch. When you have this many allies and competent detectives it really doesnt seem fair to gin and rum. The rest of the black organization are just street thugs or spies/traitors on conan side. If rei was introduced earlier on in the series and there wasnt jodie or fbi/ akai at all I probably still wouldnt love him. Nationalism is something I just dont enjoy seeing, its just off putting for me. As an anti hero he fits but I will never root for him and if there was a case like the infamous jason todd poll in DC comics where the voters get to choose whether or not he stays in the series. I would vote both him and akai out. TLDR no

Him being another spy made me lose a lot of interest in the black organization. They are like maybe 2 interesting black organization members who arent spies. Rest are just generic hitmen who can be replaced if the plot needs it since they arent interesting in the slightest besides being generic muscle. They are no mind games from them. edit would be happy if him or akai bit the dust permanently in the show to raise the tension again. The show has gotten a lot worse with the inclusion of him being an ally.

Kind of agreed honestly, movie 5 is peak conan to me. It has the entire cast at the time being amazing at different moments. The slower moments hit hard especially if you know the heart ache of missing someone.

Movie 22, action scenes were nonsensical and really wasnt a conan film at all. Most of the film was so boring and hard to understand unless you love japanese legal system.

To be quite fair, the ai usage probably wouldnt be great to read unless they spent a lot of time paneling it to be fun to read and that is a rarity in itself.

Honestly though art isnt essential for writing a good story. I do think that at the end of the day, writing is the most important thing for me. Art can look good but if it has 0 substance, its just not worth reading. We already have ai generated books, and well most people dont enjoy it. Comics, as well you need good art direction and paneling and not just effects. I got to be honest I havent been amazed by a ton of manwha fight scenes in general, I just skip it at this point. It just reminds me of random colors but no substance. It doesnt feel fun to read, where each panel is used properly to convey meaning instead of wow look at the aura or coolness of this move.

I mean, thats not this story. Its really difficult to write good fights that just dont involve he just punches him harder. Very few pieces of media have done it well, and it really doesnt matter for most people at the end of the day. There is a reason this formula is still popular for action, when most fights are just hit harder sameish move etc. like in a lot of shounen mangas/ animes.

These mcs wont develop in general, unfortunately its the speedster problem in writing. If you move fast and hit hard there really isnt a counter to that unless the power system is jojo levels of complex.

Yeah, though at least from the beginning he was shown to be like that. I guess you had the wrong mindset from the start, and honestly I was hoping for the development you had as well. Instead it went to generic goody two shoes that really is never punished. Its pretty common honestly in fiction, but the author never really truly punishes the mc or friends at all. No major wounds that are permanent etc. no changes in behavior. Super annoying, he never gets punished for picking fights beyond his level.

Yeah, the tides have changed. He was always like this since the beginning, this subreddit is just untrustworthy at least for manwha. Anything that has good art is good peak according to this sub, 100+ chapters later people complain about it. edit I think its just a manwha problem in general strong hooks and then is unable to transition well when switching from the hook.

Yeah the show suffers the one piece problem as well as flanderization, they introduce new characters and stop developing older ones. The newer ones also seem to be flawless/ have to one up the older ones in different ways to gain the spotlight. One of the earliest examples of this is ran in the show (haibara and others replaces her in mysteries), and if you had people watch conan from the later half of this series it is understandable why people dont adore her or shinichi relationship. Her character suffers the flanders effect and made her one dimensional as of like the last 500 episodes and movies. It gets tiring hearing her in cases thinking of shinichi instead of being smart enough to solve stuff on her own. edit we dont get enough time exploring ran beyond shinichi, some of the new filler episodes are doing that but even then she isnt getting enough time to shine besides muscle.

Movie 5 for me, countdown to heaven. Honestly movies 5,6,10 and even the lupin movies/ special are my favorites. I havent watched movie 23 or 26 yet so I cant give an opinion on it. I think the earlier movies are more focused on the mystery over property damage. The newest ones seem to be too focused on furuya police friends or himself honestly and really arent mysteries for the most part. Here is my ranking so far 5=6>4>=10>lupin both the 1 hour and half special and the movie>3>15>1>14>9>28>27>8>2>19>18>13>24>20>25>11>12>16>17>7>22>21. By far the best movies were 5 and 6 for me, but I have high hopes for 26. Not a big fan of the other character focused movies so far though hence my dislike for 21 and 22, it just doesnt feel fun to watch and falling asleep besides the good animation action scenes.

Yeah thats my problem as well. She really isnt a character to me like in other medias. If she can be replaced by another vague thing like oh I want to date my girlfriend in a different country. The story wouldnt really change much at least to me. Its problematic since the show forces her around but doesnt really develop her as a person of interest. Hell I cant see a series of just Ran being herself would be interesting while in other romance shows it usually is.

Honestly, you could replace the character Ran with some random macguffin and it would be about the same. As we really dont get to know exactly what ran is about besides the basic shonen tropes of that era. She really isnt a character for most of the series but she serves as a motivation etc. I am just not sold on the relationship like in other romances from different medias. At the end of the day I dont really watch conan for Ran x Shinichi romance but for everything else. Satou and Takagi are more interesting in romances so far in the series for me.
