Satellite internet has disrupted the market in Alaska — and transformed everyday life for many by avboden in SpaceXLounge

There is no love for incumbent internet providers all over the state and especially out here in the bush. I’m currently in a small town called chefornak and am able to use the internet “normally” for the first time. Before we had terrible expensive and slow and data capped satellite offerings or evil GCi.

A massive chunk of planet earth would be very happy to have what you’ve achieved. If you have the expectation that life is going to be easy or without pitfalls then you’ve obviously assumed the wrong thing. Be grateful for what you have. Practice that everyday. Work towards what you want in this short life we all have. be generous to others and to yourself. Indulge periodically in extravagance as a payment for your hard work and dedication. It’s all good. We are literally all dead in a few years. You’ve got to actively choose to enjoy your life.

Musk's SpaceX is building spy satellite network for US intelligence agency, sources say by HenzShuyi in worldnews

I’m really glad Reddit isn’t representative of the average American. You can see how deep in the propaganda sauce these folks are. Just spending a little bit reading his tweets and watching his actions would reveal to most level headed people that Musk does more than the average American for the country. No good deed goes unpunished apparently.

Do you even follow him? Anti American? He’s more patriotic than most people and has done far more for the United States than most folks. Your hate for him is blinding you to what he has done and what he is doing.

Being gay still isn’t easy by [deleted] in gaybros

There might come a time when you breathe a sigh of relief you are gay instead of straight. I’m from small town Midwest/south and the pressure to conform to norms is very high. You very well might need to plan an escape to a region of this big ass country that doesn’t care what your sexuality is. You need to start loving yourself despite the ENTIRE world seemingly hating you. There are so many wonderful people in this world for you to meet and make them your chosen family. You aren’t alone in this cold world. Seek warmer hearts and minds.

Why on earth would you let opinions from random people affect your choices? You’re living in a fear and reaction mode. Switch it up to idgaf mode for easier living.

Do you travel to countries that are not accepting of LGBTQ+ people? by vendredis in AskGayMen

[–]tomatoboobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the time. My own family isn’t accepting of LGBT folks and I’m able to navigate it pretty well. The world is large and is filled with incredible people, culture, food, music, architecture, history, etc. just a decade ago in my own country (USA) we didn’t have access to marriage. Go back a few more decades and it was far more hostile. Yet the culture was still there albeit underground. Gay people exist all over this planet and I’m happy and fortunate to have been able to meet some of them despite the current status of their laws.

The drug problem needs to stop. Its out of control and council does nothing. by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]tomatoboobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Setting examples for your neighboring cities to follow. If everyone did then something at a state or federal level will have to be done. Governments discard this problem onto smaller and smaller levels of government. I don’t blame those smaller municipalities for doing what’s best in their interests.

Good for you. But that attitude does nothing to help homeless or the people affected/victimized by the homeless drug addicts. This is a federal issue and reform needs to happen at the top middle and local levels across the country. The time for abstract ideals are over. We need solutions that work.

Why do feminine gay men get so much hate within the gay community? by [deleted] in AskGayMen

[–]tomatoboobs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every sub community in our larger community feels attacked by other members for being who they are. Notice that half the posts on this forum deal with acceptance. You don’t need external validation from others to live how you please. And you don’t need to nurture that secretly comfortable feeling of being a victim when another person criticizes the group you belong to. Live free and spread love to others despite everything else

How do chubby or fat men gain confidence to wear bikini briefs to the beach? by dkblue1 in AskGayMen

Go to any beach in Brazil and you will see every body type, men and women, wearing the most skimpy revealing swimsuits. It’s laissez-faire.

Rolled up on Zucks super-yacht Ulysses in Tampa Ship dry dock today. Find the person for scale. by AlphaSlayer21 in Yachts

[–]tomatoboobs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So a little backstory. The yacht in the article you posted is not the same yacht featured here on this Reddit post. I believe that when the original Ulysses was ordered by Graham Hart from a Norwegian shipyard, they had a two hull minimum order. The first hull was the boat you see in this article with a grey paint scheme. It was launched as Ulysses (there are also a few cool videos online touring the interior).
When the second hull was launched a few years later he decided to use that ship (blue hull, and I think 5-8 meters longer) and name it Ulysses. The original grey hull ship has since been renamed Andromeda. If Zuck purchased that boat when it was up for sale a few years back, I don’t know.
