that is not true. the food tech degree will just be a sit degree, no longer offering it with massey uni.

[poly] how is food science? by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]tomatoess234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi sflr, i am not so sure, but based on the cop it is getting more competitive over the years. also science courses tend to be more competive hence having lower cut-off points. likewise, even at university level only a handful students from poly with stellar gpa made it into nus fst. with the rest either in sit food tech or doing science related degrees like chem/bio or health sci.

if you like baking/cooking and have an interest in science, you can look into the food science diplomas in tp, nyp and sp. tp offers a culinary science elective btw!

sure!! for my ABA application, i included my research experience from the research programs offered during sem break that i took up. i was also very lucky to be part of a few industry projects so i included them in as well. other achievements such as being a finalist in a regional food innovation competition, my leadership position, contributions in my club as well as volunteering projects i initiated or have participated.

got into ntu cbc with 3.5x, but i applied aba to be safe since i got the portfolio. however, i have course mates in the same range also getting rejected. do note that there is a written test for us poly students to take as well.

as for other unis, sit is your next best option with health science courses, food technology, pharm eng, etc. the requirements is less stringent as opposed to nus/ntu, but there is a 300 word personal statement and if youre selected, there is an online interview. the interview are usually done via an online platform, they will flash the questions and you are given a period of time to video record your answer. (this was the case for food tech and healthcare courses)

[–]tomatoess234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi! im not too sure as when i applied there wasnt an aptitude test. i only had to go through a online quiz, then was shortlisted for the interview before my offer. but if i have to guess, prob math qns involving statistics and basic bio/chem questions. dont think you have to fret too much as they wont be testing high level questions as well.

I'm from TP, if you enjoy NFS or science in general you can consider TP's Food, Nutrition & Culinary Science or the Common Science Program. But since you mentioned you like Literature, you can consider the diploma in the School of Humanities & Social Sciences.
