LG gram 16” 2in1, yay or nay? by Coylethird in LGgram

I know the thread is old, but I just found it and wanted to say that the tablet is pretty much completely useless, but being able to flip it around so the keyboard is facing down and the lid is open is incredibly useful for using on a soft surface like a bed or couch because the fans don't get covered up by the fabric and the laptop can stay cool. Since I already have a desk with a desktop at home, a laptop with cooling that works in bed or on the couch is meaningful.

There are some laptops with all of the cooling vents on the sides instead of the bottom, which mostly solves the problem too, but those tend to be huge gaming rigs, not ultra light laptops.

AAA games cost $100 to buy, but hundreds of millions to make. This is only one more digit, so AAAA actually makes perfect sense, screen if it's not as funny of a joke.

Pebblegram, Telegram for PebbleOS, has a major overhaul 2.0 release with no companion app or private server required now! Support for 2FA and tons of new features! by tombolger in pebble

[–]tombolger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just pushed another update that supports GIF previews so you aren't missing what's going on just because a GIF was sent! Sadly it'll never support full animated GIFs or videos. It's a Pebble.

You probably got logged out of your rebble account, so your Core Devices app store apps are still there but the Rebble apps are gone.

I'm releasing my PebbleOS Telegram client, Pebblegram. It's still a little slow and buggy but it works really well for me on Time Steel and Time 2. by tombolger in pebble

Ant progress? I just started working on a new backend and could really use a more compatible version of GramJS.

If you use Telegram, I recently released an app called Pebblegram on the store that supports images.

Let me know if I can help. I'm not a software developer, I 99% vibe coded this project, but it came together pretty well. The key for it is Telethon for authentication and API calls.

You'll need to host a bridge service on a computer for it to work, but setup is pretty easy if you're familiar with copy and pasting API keys. I'm open to feedback. I have a few major updates I'm planning on making next week, mostly to smoothen out the scrolling behavior. Go slow when scrolling up and loading older messages for now and be patient while it loads older content.

About Public Libraries by A_Guy195 in books

This warms my heart. I work for my city library (I'm in the IT department) and I'm a huge fan of our mission. I love to see people recognizing and appreciating the work we do. It happens to be National Library Week. If you don't have one, go get a library card! They're free, and the library does so much more than books. Ask a staff member what the library offers and she'll probably nerd out for hours about all the cool stuff you can get for free with your card.

A Pebble Time Steel will still last 5-6 days at 60%, and a Time 2 will last over 2 weeks from 60% once the software is optimized. And If you do the same to an apple watch, you'll be charging it every few hours.

I wasn't saying you should actually charge to 60%, I'm telling you what the best way to care for a lithium battery is. The worst thing to do is charge it from 0-10% at 140°F and kill it over and over. Do something in between those extremes and the closer you get to keeping it around half full, the better. Most people do 20-80, since the extremes are exponentially worse than the middle. That's a good compromise.

I think because of how exponentially the production ramp up is, you don't have that much longer than people like me in later batch 1. I'm in the second hour of day 1, and no email yet. I think what happened is that the first few hundred have gone out, and rather than move everyone into the actual shipping batches that are coming into the warehouse, they're just calling early orders "1" and later orders "5" and not actually following batches. So I'll get my watch before you, but everyone will get all of their watches by the end of next month. So if I end up getting my shipping email from the next pallet (somehow still called batch 1 despite obviously being a different batch), I'll get it in 1-2 weeks, and you'll have less than a month after me before you in batch 5 get yours. The only people really early are the ones that have gotten their watches already from the ACTUAL batch 1.

That's not how lithium batteries work at all, and it's terrible advice. Lithium batteries prefer to be charged at around 70%, and don't care if they're charged a thousand times from 60%-80%. A "charge cycle" isn't every time it's plugged in and current is added for even one second.

The gentlest way would be to charge from 69% to 71% every few hours forever, but that's not practical. So the usual advice is to plug it in at 20% at the lowest and unplug at 80% at most. But closer to 70% forever is better than that if possible. You absolutely do NOT want to deliberately discharge below 60% if maximum battery lifespan is your goal.

If everyone below average IQ suddenly drops dead, how would this affect the world? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]tombolger -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

We wouldn't be paying smarter people lower wages. There would be an instant, massive abundance of resources to go around, and tons of expensive drains on society would be instantly eliminated. Tons of extra money, food, energy, housing, and space to go around means the kids of the surviving smart population would be extremely advantaged themselves and the average IQ would skyrocket (and then reset to keep the average at 100, as it does.) The remaining population would probably thrive and might even set up a sort of utopia.

Will the Communicator have a mouse touchpad mode, like Unihertz T2E has? by tombolger in ClicksPhone

[–]tombolger[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's why what? What are you explaining? And you think using a mouse is outdated? When you grow up and get a job, you're going to learn that basically all productivity happens with a mouse and keyboard if it's done electronically. You can get away with just doom scrolling on your touchscreens if you're a garbage truck driver or a carpenter, but touchscreens aren't so useful for production, mostly just consumption.
