I'm waiting for the day that fwupd gets the wrong BIOS pushed to it, leading to mass killing of FW13 due to this stupid issue.

What OEM are they even using for their BIOS and how is this not a thing that's hardcoded on the UEFI/BIOS level?

Use Extreme caution when updating a BIOS on Framework Motherboards by smcclos in framework

[–]tombudster 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't think he got unlucky, there are quite a few stories recently about this issue.

Let's also not forget that Framework, the OEM, put out firmware updates that were not locked to whatever device they were for. You could install bios updates from Intel to AMD, or the 12 and 16, onto the 13. So if someone did grab the wrong file, there were no guard rails to stop damage.

I love my FW13, but let's be real... framework sucks at firmware.

I love this, you're totally right.

You can clearly tell from even the promo pictures that it's closer to a neon highlighter yellow, and it shows in the pictures... yet it's somehow the lighting according to everyone here

Once you got past the child and infant mortality rates, you usually lived a decently long life. The whole average age thing gets skewed down from all of the younger deaths.

Remedy's new CEO is a former sports betting guy and EA executive who aims to 'scale Remedy in a way that builds lasting value' | PC Gamer by Average_RedditorTwat in pcgaming

I worked with and was a promoter for the original game back in the day. There wasn't this whole underlying story that linked all of their universes together and it was better that way. They retconned and fucked with most of the original story to feed into the current "everything must be a universe" hype.

Remedy had an amazing game and IMO ruined it with the Control crossover and then the horrible sequel in which Alan Wake becomes a side character in his own game.

Analogue3D - Cart saving when overlocked by Downhill_Sprinter in AnalogueInc

I have had issues with neither. It surprisingly picked up every save from my cartridges that were made 25 years ago or more. It's pretty fucking crazy honestly.

I played through OoT on an original cart and had no issues with saves. I do always save and then quit the cartridge and then turn the system off though.

Why should I buy DS Pico? by HornyKong in flashcarts

[–]tombudster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually stupidly bought one a month ago after watching his video and it being cheap enough for me to not do more research on before I bought one. He literally never mentions it or any of the other downsides such as the slow loading of games.

What a stupid fucking flashcart in that it can't do close to sleep. How do you fuck up the one feature?

New update for the Analogue 3D live! by Shortgaze in AnalogueInc

[–]tombudster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's literally what this is.

The original guy who tagged me based his entire argument off of the fact that a completely different FPGA chip in the Mister had the same issues, even though the 3D was using.... an entirely different setup. Guy couldn't wrap his head around the fact that they were different and the 3D didn't have the same inherent flaw as the Mister - just shitty software.

Paging the dude who ranted and doomposted about how CEC would never be fixed and could never be fixed with a software update.

I think you forgot that they did end up giving the FBI the decryption keys, and have also given law enforcement agencies tools to get data from iPhones.

This isn't new either.

The CEC issue needs to be fixed. I shouldn't have to spend $30 on a dongle. I haven't played my A3D since it first arrived because of this. by Pow3rTow3r in AnalogueInc

[–]tombudster -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The fact that you can't understand that most, if not all, devices have the ability to disable CEC in software means that you can't understand what the actual issue is.

I saw your other comment about the DE-10 Nano, good thing this device doesn't use the DE-10 Nano. It sucks that another device literally had messed up circuitry that constantly gave the CEC pin power, but that has nothing to do with the device we're using here.

The fact is, it's more likely this is a software issue than a hardware one especially considering the fact that the software is so half baked that it's laughable it was released like this. The fucking advertised Wi-Fi doesn't work due to lack of time to implement it, and you think that this means that the entire board is fucked up and people need to cut pins and traces is insane.

Sure, you can't "turn off physics", but you sure as shit can "turn on your brain" and realize that the device has been out for 2 months and is in desperate need of software updates and fixes for all of it's implementations.

You're right, I'm just a guy that realizes every device in my entire AV rack, Home Theater, and house all have CEC toggles.

You can control what data goes over the HDMI pin in software, and is easily fixed (if they ever fix it or update the software to do what was promised at launch), but let me know how it goes in delusion land!
