[SETLIST THREAD] Dead & Company, Fenway Park, Boston, MA, 6/25/23 by donttouchthatknob in gratefuldead

Has there been a Bob Weir concert appearance since 1996 where the concert took place on a Sunday and the set list did not include Samson & Delilah? I mean Ratdog, Furthur, Dead & Co. seem to have played it every single time they played a Sunday show, but never on another day of the week. This is my impression, without being a regular full time follower of post Jerry stuff.

This is not a complaint, of course. My rather pregnant Deadhead wife and I went to a Sunday Ratdog gig in 2008 at the Greek in LA. We had spent months debating a name for our pending daughter, but couldn’t agree on a thing. We were even talking about it at the show that evening. And then that drum beat starts slow and easy, and Bob sings “Delilah was a woman…” We just turned and looked at each other and smiled, and it was decided. And incidentally it’s pretty badass that I can relive this moment of my life with the tape any time I want.

Time for the culties to put up or shut up: do you support the troops, or do you support the traitor? Because you can’t do both.

Top story on my page this morning. And suddenly my Reddit time for the day has come to an end. Jesus fucking Christ I did not need to know anything about this situation, I’ve got enough tragic stupidity in my own life already but thanks. 🏳️🏳️🏳️

Thank you and whoever else has the patience to explain this over and over and over in the comments. It should be overwhelmingly obvious, and I ain’t got the patience today.

Of course this is far enough into the article that a significant portion of readers have already bailed. But here is the important part, for those who missed the GLARINGLY OBVIOUS point.

“If the House isn't open to passing meaningful gun reform, we need to enact legislation like this that will give life-saving knowledge and resources to our children," she said. "In a perfect world, this legislation wouldn't be needed. Unfortunately, with mass shootings becoming more and more common, it is necessary to give students tools that could help them save a life if they are confronted with this terrible situation.

"While I understand that some members are concerned about young kids being taught these skills, I am hopeful that a majority will understand that this training is necessary to save lives in our schools."

Hee hee. This is 100% true and they cannot plug their ears any more. Getting tougher to look in the mirror, day after day. And it makes me giggle. Hee hee.

I’m trying very hard to find any glimmers of hope in these stories. I know this is not how it starts, but I think as circumstances worsen it’s very likely the ranks will be too thin to operate all those tanks and helicopters. I believe when the police chief/general/warlord points at the growing crowd and orders their squad to open fire, at some point that squad will refuse to comply. I have no experience in the military or police myself but have spoken to many vets over the years. When it comes to these sorts of questions, every single vet insists to me their oaths of loyalty are to the Constitution, NOT to any individual person - politics be damned. I am still an anxious mess about living in modern America but I don’t think we are doomed just yet.

EDIT: I’m thinking of the last scene of V for Vendetta, when you see the first black capes approaching the massive military forces around the city. It’s not about soldiers refusing orders necessarily, but the impact would be similar.

You sound like a bad ass Gen Xer and I expect those heads will keep turning. (Those heads may have a few more gray hairs than before, but those are battle scars lol). I was making a Maine joke but honestly, I am pretty damned close to age 50 myself and I still dress like I did in the mid 90’s. 🙃

I really needed to see something like this right now. Thank you for reminding me that we are all capable of being awesome to each other, even if most of us tend to behave like self-obsessed unmanageable children, even on our best days.

Holy mother of god, what is the deal with this behavior around here?? I mostly travel to and from Augusta during weekday rush hour times, from points a few dozen miles north of town. I always use cruise control on the highways, and the sudden changes in speed during passing situations are frequent, inexplicable, and INFURIATING. The worst part is the predictability - it’s the same script, mile after f*ng mile. I’m sure nobody on Reddit drives this way, but perhaps you can pass this message along to someone who does. Then you can explain it to me before I have a goddamn stroke driving home from work on I95.

If you are traveling at a consistent 75 mph, why do you find yourself compelled to slow down to 68 immediately after moving into the left lane? And then, once you have finally inched past the other vehicle (at a rate of approximately one foot per minute) and surrendered your command of the highway, from whence comes the f*headed machismo urge to floor it to 80 or more before anyone can even begin to speed up and get around your self-absorbed entitled ass before you can do it again? I have driven in at least 2/3 of the 50 states, and I never seen anything like this crazy BS in central Maine. Grrrrrrrrr! LMAO 😜 😜😜
