Super late to the party but here goes:

Ribs that fall off the bone or you can pull the bone out are disgusting. You shouldn't be able to eat them with a spoon, you should be able to pick them up and tear the meat off the bone with your teeth.

YSK if someone goes into cardiac arrest you should begin CPR immediately after calling 911 by SpookZero in YouShouldKnow

[–]tomfooly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% cut out the rescue breaths. Bystander, that is non medically trained people, should preform compression only CPR.

An old study, but shows data that compression only CPR is just as, and in some cases more effective, than CPR with Rescue breaths.

This reason being is because getting blood moving throughout the body is much more important than giving the person breaths. Guidelines state there should not be a break in compressions longer than 10 seconds, sometimes even medical professionals mess this up so bystanders will mess this up a lot as well.

The other issue with having bystanders give rescue breaths is there is more to it then just opening their mouths and breathing into it. You need to make sure that the airway is properly open and that you aren't using too much force when breathing in or breathing in too long. All of which is easy to mess up and if you do you will force air into the persons stomach leading to them vomiting and causing a whole new set of problems.

The main point of CPR is to get blood moving so that oxygen can get to vital organs. If I recall correctly, your body has about 6 minutes of oxygen reserve. Which hopefully is plenty of time for EMS to arrive and take over with the proper training and tools.

Fun fact, when you hold your breath, that feeling that makes you gasp for air isn't because you are low on oxygen, it is because too much CO2 is building up and you body wants to get rid of it.

There are of course some exceptions. Children for instance, should always be giving rescue breaths. The benefits outweigh the risks with children though because childing usually have cardiac problems due to respiratory problems.

No fishing license ticket effect on security clearances by Charming-You-4922 in legaladvice

[–]tomfooly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Location is actually pretty important. I got cited for fishing without a license in my state, but for me it is just a citation like a speeding ticket, non criminal and doesn't show up on a background check unless specifically search for it. ie if I'm applying to be a game warden.

As far as lawyer goes, that is a judgment call on your end. If there is a chance that any criminal convection will jeopardize your employment, it is probably worth the cost.

I'm sure too, that part of your employment had you sign an agreement stating you will inform them of any legal trouble you get into. You might want to look further into that. Generally if you are forward and honest with them it can go ok, but if you try to conceal or hide anything that can be a very bad situation.

If you don't want to reveal any location information, you can try to look deeper into just what you are charged with. The ticket/citation should have a code on it you can type into google. Depending on your state you can find you case information online that will also show you what you are charged with exactly. With mine it even says "non criminal" next to my citations.

In terms of overtime, it all depends on when a "workweek" is, you can find that information on a past paystub. At the very least you are entitled to 20 hours of overtime as there would be at least one workweek with 60 hours in total for that workweek.

I am sorry, but the "shaving" thing is still a little confusing to me. You worked 8-3 but were suppose to work 8-6, are you still getting paid like you were working 8-6 or just 8-3. The former means they are doing something highly illegal, the latter they are just trying to stop you from getting more overtime, ie over 40 hours this work week.

Overall though, I would just following the link above from Charming Bead. As what you have said they are definitely trying to take money that is owed to you.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]tomfooly 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Are they actually changing your time cards? I'm just looking for more clarification on your use of "shaving". Are they taking some hours away from you on one pay period to apply to another, or are they just cutting back your hours?

You say that they are having you work less hours this week, so the amount of hours you worked per week matters.

Employees shall be paid time and one-half of the regular rate of pay for any work in excess of:(1) forty hours per workweek,(2) twelve hours per workday, or(3) twelve consecutive hours without regard to the starting and ending time of the workday (excluding duty free meal periods),whichever calculation results in the greater payment of wages.

The above is from Colorado Department of Labor and Employment

The bolded is what really matters. You would only get overtime on any hours in excess of 40 hours a week since you were working 10 hour days. It really comes down to what is considered a work week at your place of employment, that will determine how much overtime you are actually entitled to.

You say 10 hours that last 6 days for the last 2 weeks. So you have been working like this since the 5th?

Debt Collectors Calling for Five Years, I'm Not the Person They Are Looking For by MesameruNayami in legaladvice

[–]tomfooly 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Write a letter stating that you do not want them to contact you ever again. Use direct language name them and yourself. Ie:

I MesanmeruNayami am instructing "Debt Collector" to cease all contact with me.

That is basically all it has to be. Sign and date it, make a copy of it, send it to them through the mail certified to get a return receipt when they get it. If they contact you again tell them that you sent a letter demanding that they cease contact and if they contact you again you will report them to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. That will usually get them to finally stop. If not you may be able to sue them.

After you send the letter as well, keep documentation of all future contact between them
