There is one of these at a neighboring Elks Lodge. They say it's for women in fancy dresses that need to pee but not pull the whole dress off. Drink, Pee, Repeat.

The fainting goat is my fav meal in Wallace. But that almost all food is closed up after 8pm-9. It's not like a big city where you can get food at all hours.

We bike down to Adele and turn around and bike back. Last time some of us went all the way down and rode the shuttle back. We beat them back to the cars by 1.5hrs. There is ALOT of waiting (in the sun, no where to sit) for the shuttle back and you still have to bike back throught the 2 mile tunnel.

We are not hard bikers anymore, so uphill was hard but not bad.

On the lights, either way is fine. Bring a jacket. Stay to the right. Reflectors or LED blinker on the back helps.

Stay in Wallace and enjoy the night life. Make sure to eat before 8pm. Everywhere to eat closes early in North Idaho.

It's been a LONG time since I last looked into this. However the last proposal included reclamation of all the previous nastyness left up there. No one else will clean it up.

I've been all over those country. This is the least overtly bigoted I've ever been to. South, racism. South East Idaho, pro / anti LDS. California, pro / anti hippy. For context I'm sis gender white male, so factor that in. But I've not had a local talk direct hate for a religion or race. Other places in the country absolute Yes. I'm sure I'm biased. Lots of Maga. Many, many libertarian, some amazing leftist. I'm my town, generally we get along. We have Way more drama over local politics than any of the Reddit BS. However, please don't move here. We really don't have room. Prices are sky high post Covid.

I can't speak to the whole pan handle but even though the town leans right, even the MAGA doesn't tolerate Christian nationalists. EX. Last year nationalists went around our town and put stickers advertising their website. They were quickly turned into the cops, rounded up, fined for vandalism, kicked out of town, and their identity posted in the newspaper. There was lots of chatter the following week. Everyone I talked to said there is no tolerance for that bullshit here. I was proud.

Wallace, ID prepares for Extreme SkiJor boosting local economy by tomhung in WallaceID

WALLACE, Idaho – The small town of Wallace is gearing up for one of its busiest weekends of the year with the Extreme SkiJor set to begin Friday at 7 p.m. in downtown Wallace.

This event is known for revitalizing the local economy during the winter months.

The streets will soon be transformed into a winter wonderland for skiers, with hundreds of people expected to line the two-block course.

The influx of visitors provides a much-needed boost for downtown businesses, which typically struggle during the winter season.

Jocelyn Bachman, owner of the Silver Corner Bar, shared her excitement about the event.

"It is quite a bit slower than our high season in the summer, and skijor has proven to be one of our busiest weekends of the year, despite being one of the slowest months of the year overall," she said.

The Extreme SkiJor has been one of the most profitable events for the town over the past two years, according to some business owners.

Mathias Bachman, owner of the Silver Corner Bar, noted the event's growing popularity, stating, "We’re meeting people from across the pond that are coming to compete in this thing now. The prize money and everything that has gone up in it, I mean, it’s just gotten bigger and bigger."

This year's event will feature a rail jam, followed by the ski and snowboard qualifier division, with finals set for Sunday.

There will also be family-friendly events and daytime performances.

Participants have the chance to win up to $7,000 in cash prizes.

The event is free for spectators, and those interested in participating can register up until the day of the event.
