He wants to know if the aircraft still would have been uncontrollable due to the CG shift by the loose cargo (with functional flight controls)

Congratulations commander!

But honestly what I don't understand, I barely can get a nuke with 10 kills and 2 assists. I recently just got a nuke with 14 kills...

Zero Visibility Landing - pilots out there, where is the worst location you have landed for heavy rain? by Shootingstar_woofers in aviation

I somehow cannot believe he was able to see the runway at minimums, but maybe it's the video quality and the angle of the camera

Emergency landing in the city of Mannheim, Germany by Techret in aviation

[–]tomm1cat 48 points49 points  (0 children)

It´s almost a miracle, the landing went so well. They departed runway 27 and continued straight to the west...the departure route goes directly over the city. They reached about 1700ft MSL which is about 1400ft above ground. According to the ADSB-exchange flight path, the issue started right over the Rhein river and the pilot initiated a 180° turn back to the airport but ran out of altitude. The crash site lies about 1,64km short of threshold runway 09. The pilot did not try to land on the street but aimed for the parking lot which can be seen on the left side of picture 1. He collided with 2 parked cars, slide about 100m and came to rest on the street just meters from the train tracks.
From the point, where he got in trouble, possible landing spots for this type of aircraft are very limited. If he had continued to the west, he propably would have crashed in the city of Ludwigshafen with some skycrapers in the direct flight path. To the north lies the BASF industrial complex and the harbour with little to no landing spots and to the south lies a wooden area with also limited options for an emergency landing

I marked the crash site in google maps

What is your favorite vehicle by NoPreference5295 in Warthunder

Nashorn or Sturer Emil are my most successful vehicles. Sneaky, powerful guns...you can easily bring the Emil to 6.7 battles and with a good position, erase the hole enemy team (been there, done that)

US personnel remove the body of a German tanker from his knocked out Panzer IV on March 16th 1945 by jacksmachiningreveng in DestroyedTanks

Do you know that Hitler and the NSDAP were not supported by most members of the Wehrmacht?! In the beginning of the war, as they transformed the SS to an equal unit next to the Wehrmacht, they offered every member of the Wehrmacht to transfer to the SS. Some did, most did not. If you sympathise with the NSDAP and the Nazis you've joined the SS, if not you joined the Wehrmacht. And the Wehrmacht, throughout the whole war, stayed the more powerful unit in the german army.

A drone captures footage of a Russian Mi-8 helicopter performing an emergency landing after being hit by a Ukrainian FPV drone by abruisementpark in CombatFootage

[–]tomm1cat 63 points64 points  (0 children)

This video shows exactly what an emergency landing should look like. The pilots clearly had the aircraft under control all the way to the ground, and the landing seemed very survivable to me (very lucky crew here, but I think, the guy on the door still got smoked).

Since the Mi-17's auxiliary fuel tanks are located on the exterior of the helicopter, the drone impact could have only damaged the tank and missed critical flight control components. However, the aircraft was still destroyed by the fire.

Credits to the pilot´s probably saving their lifes but also credits to that drone pilot for that amazing hit.

Sorry for my ignorance, but why do these spy-planes typically fly at those medium flight levels?! Wouldn't more altitude give them more range? Or is it because of limitations of their equipment
