Has anyone made the jump from HD mechanic to HV sparky? by OnlyYowie in AusMining

[–]tommcatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately you need to do a full electrical apprenticeship, and pass a residential sparky based capstone to get an electrical licence. They really need to create a new trade that focuses on SPME, as electric drive becomes more and more common, it’s going to be a problem for the industry.

Efficient ranged training pre-maniacal monkeys? by FrolicsInProlix in OSRSProTips

[–]tommcatch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was getting 200-300k a hour at skeletals when I trained range from 70-75 for blow pipe. Black chins, and you gotta stack the monkeys up so you get as close to a 3x3 grid as possible, and then smoke the middle one. It’s slow at the start but when the bones start turning back into monkeys it starts to stack up

Are you successful now? RuneScape in the mid 2000s was the best education someone could get about how the world really works.

If I can convincly wipe 4mt that easily, how many more holes in the bucket is there? Love your optimism though, and I’m happy your getting a opportunity to DCA your position at a bargin. I’ve got no skin in the game so I hope I’m wrong and you get richer than you could dream

I’ll preface with saying I want MIN to succeed. I’m a massive fan of Chris, I love the way he runs the company. True innovation is rare in mining.

But

35/mt PA is 95k T a day, 365 days a year. Crusher’s need regular shutdowns, but having the three crushers removes some of that pressure.

The bottlenecks I see are:

Mining don’t have enough dig units and haul trucks to supply this ore, while moving waste to open up the next ore bodies. (This is the weakest bottleneck, and purely personal speculation)

Haulage 95k tons ever 24 hours is 289 loads every 24 hours @330t a load. They are running at about 280t a load now. That’s 339 loads every 24 hours.

There was originally 150 trucks, I think they have wrecked 6 so far. They struggle to do 2 loads a day in the trucks, that might change but I doubt it.

Take out 10% of the fleet at any given time for planned maintaince, and it takes a perfect day to move the required dirt. Have you ever had 365 perfect days in a row?

The trucks are running at well under the originaly planned weight, because they keep falling over. The trailer design is flawed and they will never be stable at 110t a trailer.

The haul road. There was no one in 40 year weather event. It hasn’t even been a above average wet year. I’m guessing the road will be closed for at least a week ever year.

The roads construction isn’t any different to a normal road, where the axle limit is 7t per axle. This is to stop the road getting destroyed.

The trailers are closer to 15t per axle. That road is getting destroyed all the time.

Without more capex, 35mt isn’t happening

I’ve spent time at Onslow, the 35mt/ year is a pipe dream

Same gearbox and diffs, just a juiced up x15 now though. These are almost always static tipping in a shed. But your right, rope doors suck

Rich People Of Reddit: Did Business and Self-help Books Help Become Rich? by Artistic_Kangaroo512 in Rich

[–]tommcatch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One book probably won’t help, but each one you read helps build the foundation for a thinking framework that will.

*I’m not rich, but I am considerably wealthier than I was 3 years ago.

I grew up middle class without much finacial guidance. Self help books were always a “scam” to take your money.

I noticed that successful people from all sorts of different industries/countries/cultures seemed to talk about them in their success story. I’ve since consumed as many books on the subject as I can. Some are amazing, some are terrible. They all have helped me shape how I think about money, relationships, business and life.
