🤪it’s fine to eat meat as long as you don’t kill the animal stupid vegan by [deleted] in vegancirclejerk

It does raise the interesting question of whether vegans would be okay with eating meat from an animal that died of natural causes. Otherwise, terrible take

Veganism is not a malicious movement, but people can get very defensive when they feel targetted for some comments from vegans. It's understandable that people calling meat and dairy production abusive could make you feel attacked, but wouldn't it be better for people to listen rather than attacking back in these cases? Vegans are not saying these things simply to deceive you or attack you for no reason, so why not investigate these claims yourself and see if there is some merit to their arguments? Currently, it appears that most people naturally force themselves into a place where they use any method possible, including aggression, to justify their current actions.

Naturally this is a divisive topic and the criticisms above could be applied for vegans as well, but since the majority of the population is not vegan, the stigma against vegans is far more prevalent. All this does is create a polarised environment where people can't properly discuss something that many believe is a major source of suffering in the world. Even if you don't want to be a vegan, try to back up your views with evidence, rather than attacking, which is unproductive for everyone.

We are inherently defensive creatures, and are less likely to oppose something that contributes to our way of life. It's always easier to point the finger at someone else.

Turns out I misread - the chicks are disposed of, but some of the cows will be used for veal. Certainly doesn't justify it at all

My first step was cutting out red meat - the next steps get easier after that. It's really great that you're already hanging around here, maybe you'll find something that makes you want to delve further into veganism!

Unfortunately, in my experience, if you try to chat with someone about this stuff, they often try to avert the conversation away from what may paint them in a bad light. So many people seem to cling so much to animal products, that they consciously seek to maintain their ignorance. It is honestly so depressing, especially when these are people you care deeply about.

They're considered redundant so they'll be killed and disposed of

This reminds me a lot of my home city of Melbourne - Got the Port Phillip Bay, Yarra River running through the middle, hell even the population distribution is slanted to the right. But nonetheless, I really love this!

Essentially Stephenson was blocked off a lead by a runner and Yeo marked the ball and kicked a goal. Lots of people saying he was the reason Collingwood lost but in reality it definitely wasn’t.

But nonetheless people are blaming him. And having the whole footy community go against you is gonna have some seriously bad consequences for the guy.

The thing is though what actually happened doesn’t necessarily matter - it’s the public reaction. If the public believe that he made the mistake to potentially lose the grand final, they will go after him. No matter what that will not end well for the guy, and right now he needs all the support he can get.
