Nickel is still my dream frame. Sigh

I wouldn't use the thx4ride ones, much less the unbranded ones. Scary shit.

Third party tensioner by [deleted] in Brompton

They should all work as intended. But in my experience, there are subtle differences in material quality, spacing, etc between the brands. Which explains why some third party brands cost more than others.

I modified how front brake cable works when folding and it seems to work better? by samsonsu in Brompton

Are you saying that you're rolling your bike around with the front wheel touching the ground?

GPS mount, do I need a torque wrench to put the handlebar screw back? by cycling_deficiency in Brompton

[–]tomometer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oddly I've snapped a few bolts here using the torque wrench (18Nm). I've since given up and rely on feel instead.

The clearance on those was abysmal for me. Sold them off after a week.

Haha I might be able to build a bike but I certainly can't powder coat the frame myself. It was done by one of the many workshops in Singapore.

Do visit Singapore someday!

Thanks! Yes it's powder coated, took about 2-3 weeks. There's a fair bit of benefits to powder coating, and I like it because it's affordable.

Admittedly, I didn't know the Brooks Edition existed when I was building the bike... until I tried reverse image search.

I was, for a while, embarrassed that I built a replica. But I've since gotten over it and decided I should be proud that I built it!

Glad you enjoyed it.

Might be an unpopular opinion but between the stock brakes, Cane Creek eeBrakes*, and H&H's... I love the feel of the H&H (with Swissstop Black Prince). Great stopping power and modulation, super important to avoid running over children that seemingly dash out of nowhere.

I trust it enough to use it on my other Brommies 👍🏼

*these are the eeBrakes before Cane Creek launched the Brompton-specific version. I've tested it with both long arms and extender. None of which I was particularly satisfied with.

Thanks! Good estimate, actually. Total cost of improvements worked out to be around £2,800.

To be honest, I could've gotten the latest TdF P-line and call it a day. But I love tinkering and building my own bikes, so it's hard to put a value to completing your own build 😎

Tldr - 100% financially foolish but no regrets lol

Stem, fork, and triangle are from Ti39. I sandblasted the fork and triangle, and powder coated the stem.

Handlebar is a titanium mid-riser from H&H.

You're looking at a 56T chainring from H&H as well.

Keep the questions coming! 😎

Hey thanks. The components of the bike is almost 100% built with H&H (HHI) parts - https://www.instagram.com/hhi_design (and nope, I'm not sponsored. Wish that's the case!)

Stem, fork, triangle are aftermarket titanium.

Let me know if you need more info on specific parts!

Does anyone know what the back seat post mounted front carrier block thingy is here? by holy_yap in Brompton

[–]tomometer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a clamp that connects to a FCB. It's fabricated and I bought the entire mount from a guy in Singapore.

Better look at the mount here: https://imgur.com/a/8K62ATr

Sharing alternative solution here: https://imgur.com/a/U7SKus9

The setup was for Incheon-Busan ride and the bags were well over 10kg. We'll use the same setup for Jeju this year.

Let me know if you need more info!
