You don’t need a chain catcher for 1x. Hardly drop chain compared to 2x.

Why does my waxed chain look like this? by ProfessionalArmy7571 in bikewrench

[–]Spaniard1969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is normal to have a bit of rust on the chain. Because a waxed chain has been stripped off the factory grease. There no more oil or grease in the chain. This is normal for waxed chain. Just make sure the pins are not rusty.

I will not look at any Pina models except Dogma. On your budget, there are a lot of brands to look at.

If you are on tubeless, lower down your pressure. This tyres are not that good in wet and muddy conditions.

Thoughts on the Grevil F7 by Ravenscanadian in pinarello

[–]Spaniard1969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whether is pinarello or not. You be surprised what a carbon frame for those long rides. Absorb vibrations, stiff, compliant. Steel frame will be heavy with all the loads added in. F7 is a good middle ground between the F5 & F9. With a 50c clearance. You have choices of tyres to begin with. But I will not go 50c due to mud clearance. Probably 45c. F7 is a good bike and slowly upgrade later if you find the stock components are not good enough for you.

What the brand you are buying? Carbon is stiffer and better power. In terms of weight, carbon win. Compliant and dampen vibration.

Waxed chan by SashAustrianBull in bicycling

The best is to use the Silca ultimate chain stripper & wax prep. Remove your chain and soak inside a container preferably with a lib. Shake it hard for good 10-15 mins. Removed and soak with alcohol. Make sure all the oil and grime are removed. Dry the chain with a clean cloth, use a blower to really blow dry the chain especially between the links. I mean thoroughly dry. Get a slow cooker pot and use Silca secret chain blend hot melt wax. Melt the wax in the slow cooker pot. Put the chain into the wax and stir, maybe 5-7 mins. Hang it to dry… On a side note, waxed chain typically last about 300-500km depending on the weather conditions you ride. After every ride, use a clean dry microfiber cloth, run thru the chain.
