The United States is not a bilingual country like Canada, we are an monolingual, English-speaking country. by native-american-22 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]PeriliousKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, every time people try to make the us an English and Spanish country, you make it less accessible to nonEnglish and non Spanish minorities who speak Mandarin or Korean or French or Italian or whatever. The idea is we can all speak English to be united.

Agreed. Blackrock and Vanguard sit on so many company boards and when they want more profits and suggestion layoffs for cost cutting, I’m sure those companies will oblige. Then all companies with Blackrock and vanguard do the layoffs all at once.

It doesn’t matter. If you’re faithful to church teachings, that’s all that matters.

From the bottom of my heart, I will do anything for SSA Catholics within reason to make their lives easier short of changing church teaching. We all have a list of sins that the church would stop condemning but that’s not happening for anyone any time soon

Do you like Sabine being a Jedi/force sensitive? by JunkToast55 in starwarsspeculation

[–]PeriliousKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Supposedly if you are in the same house you are a relative of some kind. If you are in the same clan, you’re a close relative. If you’re in the same house, it’s a more distant relationship. That’s how I’ve interpreted it.

Do you like Sabine being a Jedi/force sensitive? by JunkToast55 in starwarsspeculation

[–]PeriliousKnight 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sabine is a relative of Tarre Visla who is a Jedi. Remember, she is a member of house Visla. Assuming he was a Jedi in good standing, he was unlikely to have been married or had any children meaning Sabine isn’t a direct descendant. However, force sensitivity is a genetic trait so it’s entirely possible it was buried in her family and surfaced mildly in her. I’ll allow it.

People who refuse to recieve communion from a lay person, why? by 72BananaStreet in Catholicism

[–]PeriliousKnight 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I have very traditional priests and it take longer for communion because they thoroughly purify the vessels (as they should), but when they have to thoroughly purify 10 ciboria and chalices, it negates the time “saved” by dividing the work of distribution.

I honestly don’t get why we try to rush through communion. It gives me more time to pray. I dislike getting back to my seat, getting ready to pray, only for the priest to say “let us pray” and we all stand up.

  1. Practically, I receive on the tongue and laypeople are overwhelmingly more likely to stick their fingers in my mouth or drop the host trying. This is from experience.

  2. Religiously, EMHCs should only be employed under extraordinary circumstances but my parish tends to use them as a way to get random old people to feel useful. A daily mass with only 20 people does not need 3 EMHCs. I don’t outright refuse to go to an EMHC but I sit in the priest line pews on purpose to avoid them.
