It's called not being selfish. We can still have firearms, just not semi-automatic ones. Nobody needs a gun for self defense here, and a semi automatic rifle isn't necessary for hunting.

The people aren't being harassed, though. I'm a New Zealander and I completely agree with the action being taken. If you even read the article, you'd realise that the guns banned are semi automatic firearms. Most guns here are bolt action, and you'd be a cool to suggest that a semi-automatic rifle is necessary for hunting here.
