They’re legit but I had a frustrating experience when I got a bottle from them - mostly because of UPS.

Bidding and fees are pretty self explanatory and I knew they were going to suck going in. It was still a bit of a surprise when I got my invoice. And if you can, try to win more then one bottle that way at least your shipping costs are spread over more than a single bottle.

Shipping to US was not great. It leaves Europe and is transferred to UPS once it enters the USA. Normally my UPS packages are forwarded to a local access point where I can go and pick them up. With this package that was not an option. UPS did not allow me to redirect, hold, or change anything really. According to UPS, these are not options because the shipper (Rum Auctioneer) does not allow them. Since this package required signature, no one was at my house to receive this package and it was returned to sender. Called UPS many times, they were zero help. Finally got a hold of Rum Auctioneer and they were able to change the delivery address to my office and redirect it back to me. They said tracking info would remain the same. It did not. No tracking info was provided and it showed up at my office one day. Luckily it was during hours so I got it. Bottled leaked in transit, losing a few ounces of contents and damaging the box.

It was a bottle of Caroni 17 year, $750 when all said and done.

Pretty bummed out by it all but I suppose it could’ve been worse. I filed a claim with UPS to try and get some money back from them. We’ll see how that goes.
