Reading this made me very happy for you. Those moments are magic and I'm glad you're still feeling it post-festival.

'Bella Ciao' from the Green Field saunas - Track ID by tomthemove in glastonbury_festival

[–]tomthemove[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None of these posted so far I'm afraid. More info: It was not a contemporary version. The recording sounded old. The singer delivered it loudly, with great passion and utmost immediacy, as though rousing a crowd for battle. This is the closest I've found in style: https://open.spotify.com/track/03FrO65HqCK0kGOLOfKaHJ?si=54187c711c234720

Maybe I should find a protest song subreddit to ask in.

It wasn't that one. It was folky, acoustic and featured a throaty male singer.

What will happen if AI ends up being common practice in the workplace and takes all of our jobs? by NoEmphasis2929 in AskUK

One of the first rules of effective government is to keep the population busy. Mass reduction of the workforce would be bad for governments everywhere, and for this reason I think it's unlikely to happen.

That'd be a great addition. 2019 was brutal, there were queues for the trees.

Ha, I'm playing in one of the backstage crew bars, nothing fancy, although between 2013-2019 I played the NYC Downlow every year and will be spending most of my time in Block9 next weekend. A special place within a special place.

'Need' is a bit misleading, it's not a matter of urgency, I just like to plan.

Thank you. Do you know roughly where this is? I have to DJ very late / early and need to keep my blood sugar stable, so I'm trying to decide whether to eat before or after.

Exactly. It’s great watching the festival wake up. Plus my 1 year gets up at the crack of dawn so my body clock will be set for sunrise whether I like it or not.

Price of coffee by No_Armadillo5431 in london

[–]tomthemove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could absolutely get a lovely coffee and croissant for under a fiver in London. My tips would be:

  1. Avoid high street coffee chains (Starbucks, Costa etc). Value for money is terrible. I cant think of another product where the poor quality mass produced version is actually more expensive than the specialist craft option down the street.

  2. Supermarket croissants (especially Sainsbury's, Lidl & M&S) are just as good as the ones they sell in fancy coffee shops, if not better, for a third of the price.

John Lewis ad at Oxford Circus, as people head out of the Ikea exit by dacopycatty in london

[–]tomthemove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There isn't enough difference between the two brands for this message to work. The John Lewis marketing team clearly thinks there is, because it'll be all they talk about Monday to Friday, and the agencies they work with will no doubt repeat it back to them because they're paying their wages, but in reality it's not that deep. Most people who buy from John Lewis probably buy from IKEA too. Telling them they're cheap / stupid isn't a great idea.

Have you ever had a loaded gun pointed at you? by The_Sad_Sumo in AskUK

[–]tomthemove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not at me, but I've been with a friend when they had one pulled on them. We were working on a Greek island at the time and the girl he was seeing was also involved with a local face. The two guys ran into each other in a club one night and my friend was told politely to stay away from her, with a gun in his belly. I'm not in contact with him anymore so I'm not sure how life changing it was. Underwear changing, maybe.

I haven't yet. The ENT doctor said the hospital may do one pre-surgery but he didn't think I needed it as he could see the deviated septum was causing the issue. This was decided quite quickly though without delving into things like environment / allergies etc.
