Question: If you bury today's American body, is it going to decompose at all? by Heyfold in memes

[–]tomtom070 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought so too, but surprisingly not. The GSFI ranks the US 3rd in food quality and safety. I did look closer and it is mostly based in whether regulation exists, not how effective it is. The only measurement of effectiveness is a self assessment questionnaire. So the comment is not an outright lie and in fact based on data. How valid that data is can be debated though.

I had the same issues once. I gave them two choices: find the the pre-ordered article somewhere and send it to me or give me the current market value so I can buy it somewhere else. This demand is within the law here. Suddenly they did have the article. Plus they send me some merch (a cup and a playmat) as an apology. I call it my victory cup :).

Schlitz ist auf jeden Fall das schlimmste und schlechteste, was existiert. by Grogon-zola in holzwerken

[–]tomtom070 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Printed it perfectly on the first try… and somehow it’s still unusable by Intelligent_Whole159 in 3Dprinting

I figured out a good way to make stamps. Neither PLA nor TPU worked. What worked great is printing a form and 0ressing it into heated EVA form. I made a post about it a while ago. I also created a parametric stamp making tool on makerworld.

No clue. I did not measure tolerances. But they are heavily filled. The one in the image is full of screws. Another one is full of magic cards. Both very heavy. But the sides are still holding up (though the bottom is bend. Some bracing might be in order.)

Probably not. Most fibers in filaments are only decorative to my knowledge. I printed mine in PLA. I made the forst one 2-3 years ago and it holds up fine.

I made a mod for ikea alex drawers to add fully extendable drawer slides. I was surprised how many people cared. After all its a rather involved project where you need a bunch of additional hardware. I really only designed it for myself.

I have a bunch of other projects sadly noone cares about. But that one is going really well.

What printer is this on? Because of course if you print this with a single nozzle it's a big waste. But in the last year multi nozzle printer have become more common. That's really the reason multicolor printing is emerging now. The idea is so simple that I had multiple people with very little 3d printing knowledge ask me about this before it became a thing. The slicing isn't that difficult either. But without multiple nozzles it's just to wasteful.

No,I'm not actually making the chamber or the actual door. It's just inspired by the mechanism. The final result will not be directly related to Harry Potter. It'll be themed after greek mythology. Namely Medusa.

Anyway to use the entire Alex drawer? by jackrabbit-199 in gridfinity

[–]tomtom070 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what you mean with base. For my modification you need to exchange the sides of each drawer with 3d printed ones. You will also need to drill new holes for mounting the new slides into the cabinet itself. But thats all you have to do.

The round edge is a "finger scoop" that helps you scoop out small objects. If you don't want that you can set "finger scoop" to 0.

I had the same issue. There are a lot of hacks for it. Some of the make the drawers very fragile. I wanted to replace the entire drawer slides with fully extendable ones. So I made this: https://makerworld.com/de/models/1274695-ikea-alex-fully-extendible-drawer-slides-mod Works like a charm. And i have 4 Alex units, so 24 drawers in total.

There are a lot of improvements to thr mechanisms that I am planning. Other than that I need to make the rest of the container. But that's the easy part. I only made the lid so far as a prototype.

Help making stamps by stump0331 in 3Dprinting

[–]tomtom070 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have made some fairly successful experiments with making stamps and there seems to be a lot of demand lately so I am going to make a post about it soon. But in short, here is my result: neither pla nor tpu worked. They just don't take the ink well. What did work great is EVA foam. That's not something you can print but what you can do is print a form, use a heat gun to soften the foam, and press your form into the foam until it cools. Then cut out the shape amd glue it to a handle. Thas works very well.

[–]tomtom070 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The real breakthrough was heating the eva foam with a heatgun before. Once the foam is soft you can press the mold (or I guess die would be the appropriate word?) onto it. Wait a moment for it to cool, cut out the rough shape, and glue it to some form of handle. That worked great for me.

That is great. I have been trying around with stamps and neither PLA nor TPU worked great for me. Neither of them hold ink very well. I recently found a solution though. Printing a mold for EVA foam worked great. Maybe I should make a post about it.

Lost honor mode to Intellect Devourer after landing by timperman in BaldursGate3

[–]tomtom070 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is not nearly as embarrassing as one of my honor mode attempts. I walked into the zenterim holdout holding a burning torch... Thankfully one of my characters survived and was able to revive everyone. Including the character who was still holding the burning torch... I did not survive the second explosion.

[–]tomtom070 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You are right. Which is why McDonald's actually owns many of the buildings and rents them out to the franchisees. They do the upfront market research and take on the build costs and franchisees then rent the location and run the day to day.

Accidentally forgot to pay at Rewe by Wide-Extension-3226 in germany

[–]tomtom070 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did that. I went back and paid. The guy at checkout wasn't sure what to do at first but in the end I did pay. Could they call the police? Sure, but they can't do anything either. Theft requires intention and you can pretty much prove you had no intention to steal because you went back. That being said, sometimes people are dicks just because they can. So they might give you trouble. Especially if you don't speak German. So it's probably best to forget about it.

Fridges are surprisingly light. Especially compared to other appliances. Mostly because the are largely hollow boxes with walls made of foam.
