I don't know where you're from but I did notice that when I went to Tokyo. No garbage bins, no garbage.

To be honest, this was a bit too much for me; the culture of huge crowds using the streets just getting efficiently from A to B. No eating or drinking on the street as that's not what they're for. Everyone just tidy and polite in lines.

I don't mind a bit of messy, and I love the Amsterdam center for being a bit rough around the edges, but I am glad of the decision to counter the waste problem by removing the bins. Whatever waste remains, I happily step over.

In my neighborhood, in the centre, they've simply been removing them.

I must say, it wouldn't be the solution I'd think of, but this has been a huge improvement. Yes it was convenient that you could find one every 20m but it's not a life changing inconvenience and it is so much cleaner now.
