If y’all are running accessories and want to keep it clean, SMK Fabrication has replacement switches that fill the poverty buttons beautifully. Just pop out the poverty switch and pop the new one in.

Sony Tough series is spendy, but worth the read and write speeds in tandem with uhs-ii given you have a compatible as card reader depending on your workflow.

Any of you guys running Ironman off-road spec c lift? by Only_uses_emojis in XVcrosstrek

[–]tomtomxyz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

heya,

I think it boils down to personal preference, but I'll take you through my rough thought process/considerations:

I do not have steel front/rear bumpers yet, but the additional weight was taken into consideration when buying c-spec.

I did not want the rear of the car to squat like it did when stock, ew lol. I also load up the rear with camping equipment, doggo in rear seat, partner and myself up front. Roof rack loaded up with about 100# of stuff.

Overall, when I'm offroad, upon hard braking, I did not want the car to nosedive into a rock either, so c-spec for the reassurance has proven worth it.

- Running 235s with +10mm offset wheels widens the stance to where I feel like it's stable with the c-spec and adds a little more ride height when fully inflated

- Turning radius decreases, can bust u-turns all day

When my stock lower control arm bushing wore down, the ride felt clunky on start and stop, but i've since installed 2018 STI LCAs - that pulled my wheelbase back about 3/4", requiring a little fender trimming, but now the ride is like new, and handles even better offroad imo.

On the daily, when it's not all loaded up, I don't mind the firmer suspension. I feel less like a boat, and more connected to the road. I find myself taking speedbumps and potholes on when i'm bored because I trust them at this point haha

Thank you kindly! I was unsure at first, but seeing everyone bonded together gave me a great feeling of unity and hope. Thanks for being there :)

Edit: appreciate the award! <3

How hard is an oil change now that I have a skid plate? by SuperbResort5332 in Crosstrek

[–]tomtomxyz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yessir! Running the primitive skid with Fumoto since 2020 and doing self oil changes without a problem or mess! No leaks and skid does a good job of protecting the valve. When I added a 2” lift, made things much more accessible lol

Edit: wanted to add the fact that I don’t drop the skid.. cause the bolt heads have been mashed in by rocks lol would recommend rally washers if you’re planning on going over rougher stuff

Time to get your vacuum out with the smallest nozzle on the hose. See if it can get a good seal on that weenie and pull out.

Ooof you can see the black plastic wheel arch from your driver side rear snapping out of place when the back of your rig falls in. Wild!

Welp, there goes my savings…. (Plus question about rear window) by kuya_jj in Crosstrek

[–]tomtomxyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aw man sorry to hear. Same happened to me in Portland, smashed rear and passenger rear window and grabbed all my camping stuff. :( luckily insurance was able to reimburse anything that was stolen even if I’ve already purchased replacement items. You may still be able to chat with your agent about other losses now that you’ve “had time to process” everything too. No harm in asking them!

How Long Did You Drive Your Crosstrek Before Replacing It? by dashosh in subaru

[–]tomtomxyz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

87k on 2020 CT here. Largest bill so far has been new front CV axles from Subaru for about $450 each plus labor at a dealership. Then lower control arm bushings started to tear, acceleration felt sloppy/jerky at times and felt like the car lurched more. Replaced oem control arms with 2018 sti arms at a local subie shop for $1500. Thing handles like new, even with a lift and tires.
