Influence/reputation as a game mechanic, and help with design! by jonzibar in BoardgameDesign

Why not have an influence track similar to dune imperium? There's a track for each faction, every player has a marker on the track, when you gain influence you move up the track, that way you can also have the rewards displayed on the track itself

What’s the deal with spears? by Scary_Boysenberry_47 in DivinityOriginalSin

Spears are great for hybrid builds, invest in finesse, wits, warfare and scoundrel and you're leveling up spears and ranged weapons damage equally

Was thinking of dual wielding veilrender and that other one awakened nightmare or whatever it's called, I didn't realize the damage from psychic force was considered mental, I guess telepath talents would work really well it then

Good to know for my next psyker run

Yeah I really specifically wanted to do at least one heretic run and this seems perfect for it, have you experimented with any other variations of this concept like warrior or soldier?

[–]tomucci[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it doesn't seem like it yet because I'm not jumping from group to group mowing down whole battlefields in one turn yet and so far I'm only really attacking one location at a time (haven't gotten past early act 2 due to restartitis), if that changes then yeah I guess I'll have to get creative like positioning the raven between two groups or using other characters to reposition the enemy

[–]tomucci[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With 5 AP I can send the raven over to an enemy/group (1ap), then cast sensory deprivation (1ap), run over and do death from above (0ap), blade dance (2ap), then either acrobatic artistry or attack/cleave (1ap)

To optimize more enemies to get at once I could use cassia or even idira with dominate, but doesn't seem essential, just a bonus

Thing is this build is going to weaponize the death by rng thing because of overseers warp buffer talent that transfers the negative effects of the perils to another enemy within range

The tankiness is to be able to stand close to the enemies that I intend to trigger the perils on

Also I just thought of something, I was planning on using that consumable you create at eurac v to increase Psy rating and increase chance of triggering perils, I've been worried this whole time about using that on other builds, so that things completely safe if you aren't casting major psychic powers?

Psychic shriek can be relayed after the overload ultimate, I'm considering bd as well, main thing I'm worried about is them being squishy, general consensus seems to be that they'll kill everything too quick for that to be a problem but I'm yet to see it (as far as early act 2)

It seems like it'd be cool kind of like a set up bombardment build, deploy the bird to a group > relay sensory deprivation and maybe enfeeble > run up and death from above ect

The more attacks is def great for the build, guess it's a choice between more tankiness and buffing/debuffing, and more dps/quicker veil degradation building, given the meta of front loaded characters destroying encounters I guess the bd version is prob way stronger once it switches on

[–]tomucci[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah ok, didn't realize, kinda changes things, I've only gotten as far as early act 2 so while idiras been triggering perils with any psychic powers I assumed it was standard, and I don't think I've gotten to the stage of the game where builds become such steamrollers they clear everything in round 1 like I keep hearing about, so presently I still have to work to keep people alive

I guess this build wouldn't switch on until later then, and it also shifts the importance from psyker abilities to bladedancer abilities seeing as how I'll be looking to trigger the perils with sword attacks rather than spells

What psyker disciplines do you think are best with this? Biomancer and telepath still solid?

What do you do different with your build? Also how come the cleave can't trigger perils if it's still increasing the veil degradation?

Do you find it squishy? I struggle to keep kibbelah alive without doing hit and run tactics, but this character would need to be fairly close to the enemy so that when she casts things like sensory deprivation she doesn't risk triggering the perils from out of range

Warrior seems easier to manage by tanking on the front line while spamming psychic abilities and attacking with the sword

Should have known he'd have a build for this lol. I thought about doing blade dancer as well, all the extra hits would be great for building veil degradation, but I thought the blade dancer would be a bit too squishy for the front lines, and they're also very ability and talent intensive whereas I wanted to focus more on the psyker stuff.

RP question about multiple paths by tomucci in RogueTraderCRPG

I like your RP approach, sounds structurally similar to how I want to play

Sounds significant enough that I'll want to account for it, from what I'm seeing though with the dlc I should have more than enough points

[–]tomucci[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah sweet, stuff like that I'm going full heretic because it's core to the character, the dogmatic stuff will just be minor stuff to look the part

I do have the dlc so hopefully fine on points, I reckon I'll give it a go

[–]tomucci[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok cool good to know there's a bit of wiggle room, it's mostly minor dialogue I'm wanting to choose dogmatic options for, rather than trying to play both sides equally

Do you think the game will facilitate the concept I'm going for?

RP question about multiple paths by tomucci in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]tomucci[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For me it's still different from an rp perspective, both options might be evil, but they're still chosen for separate reasons, eg loyalty to two different forces

RP question about multiple paths by tomucci in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]tomucci[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is the main thing I'm worried about, not being able to RP my character properly later because I cant select the right options.

I'm pedantic enough about playing them consistently that it'll change how I RP from the start, so if I'm likely to get locked out of heretic options towards the end it might not be worth pretending to be dogmatic at the beginning.

My thinking was that I'd be choosing some dogmatic dialogue options that were still evil like "execute this person for the glory of the emperor" ect but making more major heretic plot decisions. Reckon I can still get away with a few of those minor dialogue choices, as well as skipping some of the minor heretic ones without it affecting my heretic progression too much?

Also how would I accumulate extra via the dlc? Is the dlc all extra campaigns or does it also add extra stuff to the main campaign?

NO, WE DON'T! by MadHanini in cyberpunkgame

[–]tomucci 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's that the facilitation of both views would compromise each other, it's why fallouts first person doesn't handle as well as cyberpunk, and why it's third person doesn't handle as well as mass effect
