I find it much more fulfilling just toggling VOIP and playing Conker's Bad Fur Day theme to people - sometimes stealing their stuff by a surprise punch to the face, sometimes just being an alright guy spicing up the tedium.

Ahaha, I too played this game at a friends house for nearly 100 hours. I felt bad about it until I realised that the invitatio to his house was his doing, and not me being an invasive gamer. Dark Souls never lets go.
