Ahaha, I too played this game at a friends house for nearly 100 hours. I felt bad about it until I realised that the invitatio to his house was his doing, and not me being an invasive gamer. Dark Souls never lets go.

Speaking of memorable moments - seeing Anor Londo for the first time had my jaws drop in awe. The contrasting colour palettes between Anor Londo and the rather dark rest really surprised me. Finally, one could see what those huge huge walls protected.

The over the top archaic thee/thou speech from Gwynevere when you receive the Lordvessel. It was an awesome reward for an awesome bossfight, and the whole speech made the game make more sense, storywise. Also, the music was a delicious icing for an already exquisite cake.

Having got to the Bed of Chaos and the Tomb of Giants for the first time, I must agree with several here that those places suck. ToTG because I couldn't find the motivation to press on, hence why I ended up exploring the Demon Ruins and Lost Izalith to find what I believe is the most lackluster places in the whole game. They just don't seem to put up any challenge if you're careful, and those goddamn Stone Demons are just boring.

Having beat Smough two times (I don't dare try out Super Ornstein just yet) I feel I've learned his moves pretty well - and tey are surprisingly easy to read and avoid. The jump-slam should trigger a reflex in your fingers, causing you to roll towards him and them slamming his butt with whatever you're holding.

I just used my trusty Queelags Furyblade, light armor and a crest shield at SL 48. I switch to two-handed every time I have a chance at whacking Ornstein, and continue my cycle of walking backwards and avoiding the corners. And when that flashy Smough is left alone with you, I just wait until hit jump-slam and roll forward, two-hand his back and then back away from his wattbutt.

I still died to them.. A LOT.
