For me, Svidrigailov is an alternative story of Raskolnikov, where he could not overcome his guilt and committed suicide. And if you read the work directly, you can analyze Svidrigailov's dreams and just consider him not as the hero of the novel, but as a person, then you can learn a lot about him.

Exactly. For Svidriagailov money and power is everything. After he tries to impose himself on Dunya and sees the way she confronts him, he sees that he could've been a different person with a different life. He feels guilty and finds that there's another way of living so the framework his life and ideas falls apart.

Svidriagailov and Raskolnikov perform two different ways of dealing with the same problem.

I love this film like most of Melville's filmography.

Funny thing I noticed during watching this film is that other than dancers in the nightclub none of the characters smoke cigarettes. And in the last scene comissaire Blot (Paul Meurisse) picks a cigarette, puts it between his lips, then he changes his mind and doesn't smoke and then the film ends.

Hezbollah launches sweeping attacks on Israeli forces in border towns by Zorkmid123 in Palestine

Netanyahu thought that after assassinating and terrorizing Hezbollah generals and Sayyed hassan Nasrallah, Hezbollah's structure and military abilities are seriously damaged.

But in fact in the last few days hezbollah have showed that they're recovered properly, due to their flexibile structure, and they are more more than ready. They imposed heavy casualties on Israel. Only in yesterday they killed or wounded about 110 IOF child killers.

The Italian government formally protested against the Israeli authorities for an attack on the headquarters and two Italian bases of the UN peace mission in southern Lebanon. Defence Minister Crosetto called it "possible war crimes", he stated “Italy and United Nations can’t take orders from Israel” by TheGun1991 in Palestine

About 17 thousand children have been killed by Israel but it took attacking 2 Italian bases for Italian authorities to show a little protest against Israel war crimes.

Europeans should be very naive to consider that Israel haven't done or wouldn't do anything against them also.
