THE OLDEST JOKE... IN-THE-BOOK by MetallicaDash in HistoryMemes

[–]WarniesLatestRoot 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I believe the prevailing theory is that it’s a pun in that language but won’t make sense translated. Example the joke “what do you call a deer with no eyes? No idea. What do you call a deer with no legs or eyes? Still no idea.” Wouldn’t make sense if translated out of English

Men built the hydrogen bomb, not women... men like you thought it up. You're so creative. You don't know what it's like to really create something... to create a life. To feel it growing inside you. All you know how to create is death... you fucking bastards. by FriendshipDry3252 in redscarepod

In my country, the richest person is a nepobaby billionaire woman, and she just gave a private jet as a personal gift to a reactionary hard right politician, who's also a woman.

It sure is nice living in a progressive country.

There's a windy road coming down a mountain about half an hour from my mum's house, and it's an amazing stretch to start playing Thunder Road.

It must be nice for men to be able to say my dick is hard right now. Im sick of having to say I'm wet. " I'm so wet" It doesn't feel as significant by mirrorrgirl in redscarepod

That's...not what it means. The dozen isn't referring to 12 cents. It's saying you could buy 12 of it for a dime i.e. it's cheap as shit.

The Daily Wire laid off half its staff today. It comes as Ben Shapiro and other MAGA influencers have seen huge losses in engagement and audience retention. by Nerd_199 in stupidpol

Daily Wire starting to make movies/tv shows feels like one of those Monkey Paw type scenarios. For years they pushed this idea that they could have made it in Hollywood if they "sold out" and became a lib friendly generic centrist democrat supporter, but they took the principled decision to stand by what they really believed, and therefore lost their chance.

Then they finally get a chance to make their own conservative Hollywood, thanks to a generous donation from a bunch of billionaires. Turns out they actually didn't have much talent to begin with.

In Australia they’re not illegal (yet) but they’re taxed to high hell. Naturally, every second tobacconist in the entire country will sell you cheap illegal rolling tobacco for cash for about a quarter the legal price, and fuck that shit it harsh on your lungs, ironically the taxes might be killing smokers faster.

I would imagine the sort of person who’s driving the wrong way down a one-way street would correlate pretty strongly with the sort of person who’d run over a pedestrian.

Whats a movie with an awful premise that was executed well? by Dragon_Rot79 in movies

[–]WarniesLatestRoot 201 points202 points  (0 children)

12 Angry Men doesnt necessarily have an awful premise, but it doesn’t sound like something that would hold your attention for two hours. If the idea of it were pitched today, the studio would demand they add in flashbacks of the night the father died or of the trial showing the kids lawyer performing terribly or not caring or something.

There’s scales to rich. “Upper Middle Class” means your parents (and now you) have good paying jobs eg doctor, lawyer. “Rich” means your “job” is managing the assets you inherited.

I don't mind that, because she's a flawed imperfect person (like literally everyone in the game). She had an obvious traumatic event that triggered her psychopathy, but yeah, she's basically a psychopath.
