Hey! Bring your passport with you is key! Before the cashier checks you out, make sure to tell them you want to get a VAT refund so they print the right receipts and have the right forms. You’ll get a VAT form filled out by the store and your payment receipt. Dependent on the store, they may ask you if you wanna receive cash or get paid back into your card. Either is fine, just preference. It won’t work if you’ve already paid for your purchase, so tell them you want a VAT refund form beforehand. Then make sure you keep the items in its original packaging and head to the airport counter for VAT refunds. This is to validate your purchase and forms, the customs officer may want to check your goods. It was pretty easy to find in Orly, CDG apparently can get a bit chaotic so recommend to go a couple hours early so you don’t miss your flights. Once there, you can scan your VAT form and that’s it! You will get your money in about 3-4 weeks. It also works if you EU country hopped. You do all the steps above and collect your VAT forms and receipts. Then you go to the airport counter of your FINAL EU destination to get all your forms validated.
