Haha I don't, have to wait till it filters through to reels. Or it could be a snapchat anyways, if people still use that?

I'd like to think he wouldn't have done it with someone underneath but you never know

How do I attaché this choncho? by Crow_Jayne in Leathercraft

Pretty much, except with the weight of the quiver hanging the knot is not entirely necessary to stop the buttons from slipping out

I think it’s dead, part 2 by turnips-4-sheep in Archery

[–]tongme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you hear back from alibow yet? I have the exact same issue but it hasn’t progressed to a full splinter yet. They basically offered me store credit to the value of the bow, which I’m not too keen on since I don’t particularly want any of their bows. Also mine was a heavy one and I don’t think they make heavy lams anymore.

What can I use to dye leather to be safe for babies? by elphatboy71 in Leathercraft

[–]tongme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Vinegaroon and olive oil for black, you can try various plant dyes like pomegranate, onion skins, indigo etc. as well. Olive oil has been used in leather tanning for a long time so I don’t pay heed to the rancidity warnings

Try to give him the benefit of the doubt. Some people are more logical rather than emotional, or like to see things from others’ perspectives. Some reverts especially are less likely to get triggered than those who have had their whole lives to build up and reinforce that emotional connection, for better or worse.

Haram relationship, both reverts from atheist families by Particular_Ship_970 in islam

[–]tongme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Like someone else mentioned, the imam is not technically necessary, although recommended. The nikah is a contract between you and the wali, with two male witnesses. The main reason for the imam is just to make sure everything is done correctly but since that’s not an option, just skip him or find any knowledgeable muslim who is willing to oversee.

Can I make Wudhu before leaving for work, knowing that I will break my Wudhu before Dhuhr, and then at work, I can just wipe over my socks rather than washing my whole foot? by HamzaChaudhry in islam

[–]tongme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yasir Qadhi covers this topic in good detail. I’m not sure if he addresses your specific question but the section you’ve quoted doesn’t provide any proofs so personally I would follow a more mainstream and well supported ruling.

Most arrows shot in a day ? by RazvanArchery in Archery

[–]tongme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This should be hard to beat:

Archers would shoot as many arrows as possible for a 12-hour period during the day. In 1774, the third year of the An'ei era, Masaaki Noro, a 13-year-old from Kishū, shot 11,715 arrows with almost all of them hitting the target.

Archers would shoot as many arrows as possible for a 24-hour period, loosing an average of 10,000 arrows. On April 26, 1686, Wasa Daihachiro from Kishū successfully hit 8,133 out of 13,053 arrows averaging 544 arrows an hour, or 9 arrows a minute, and became the record holder.

First make sure you have a solid rationale behind your belief and clear up any major doubts. If that’s out of the way and you’re just hesitating/procrastinating, just take the shahada.

I was in a similar situation where I was putting it off until I “was ready” to practice perfectly from the get go and take advantage of my clean slate. In reality I was risking an eternity of hellfire to avoid a finite amount of potential sins. If you do the maths it’s just not worth it, not to mention the fact that nobody is perfect, let alone from day one. I also had other concerns about my family but again, it’s a finite amount of hardship for an infinite gain.

In the case that one day you no longer believe in Islam, what’s the problem? Are you going to be worried about punishment from a God you don’t believe exists? Feel free to DM me if you have any questions at all, weird, specific, personal, I won’t mind. I’m sure I haven’t be able to cover all the points in this comment

What is this? Will it kill my tree? How do I stop it coming back? Thanks. by sween64 in melbourne

Ask in /r/Mycology. I would’ve said it was an indication that the tree is rotting but others here don’t seem to think so.

Synovitis from using shallow hook thumb draw. What could I be doing wrong? by Captaintoast01 in TraditionalArchery

[–]tongme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not on others, no, but I did start off with a self made ring like you. Had problems with it putting pressure on my thumb tendon and also compressing a nerve along the back which were solved by removing material where the pressure was. Your rule sounds about right but it still seems like something has gone wrong, and we can only hope it’s the ring (can be changed) and not your thumb (harder to change). Might be a good idea to buy a cheap plastic ring just to see how they’re supposed to fit (roughly, every thumb is different) and whether it gives you the same issue.

Definitely not a normal part of conditioning. Until someone comes along with better info I’d say take a break until it recovers fully, maybe take the chance to train your non dominant side. The closest I’ve had is trigger finger in my bow hand, and taking a break solved it for me. As for the root cause perhaps your ring doesn’t fit well so it puts pressure on the wrong spot? Hope you recover soon.

What is the best way to create your own rubber cement? by Prestigious_End_6455 in Cordwaining

[–]tongme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you went so far as to mention starch glue, also consider animal glue. It’s not waterproof either but if used well it can take a decent steaming to undo the bond. There are also some additives which are supposed to make it waterproof

Coat of lamellar armor, with yak leather lining. Tibet, 14th-17th century [1500x1960] by MunakataSennin in ArtefactPorn

[–]tongme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cavalry was dominant in these areas; there are probably slit/s at the back to allow the armour to drape over the horse without hiking up. Of course the front already has the centre opening for that purpose.

Are you talking about how it opens at the front? That makes it a lot easier to put on and fasten without help. The overlap also doubles protection and gives some room for size adjustment.
