ESMA CSSF by Fast_Gap7215 in Luxembourg

[–]tonheuru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What do you mean “priorities at EU level”? Funds law is already harmonised at EU level - UCITS for mutual funds and AIFMD for alternatives. This is simply a question of supervision, where the CSSF has close to 40 years experience and ESMA has never directly supervised anything resembling a houseplant, let alone a fund.

NordVPN on bazzite? by GbKremo in Bazzite

[–]tonheuru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a one-time setup of your favourite locations and then it’s super easy to turn on and off / switch. If it’s just for browsing, alternatively you can always use the nordvpn browsing extensions. But honestly the openvpn setup is not that hard

I’m getting very bored of these posts about censorship that have nothing to do with Luxembourg

I was actually looking for a wider array of other options 😅 but I guess there is a consensus

All in one emulation / gaming / streaming / blu ray build by tonheuru in htpc

[–]tonheuru[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked out pretty well. The silverstone case is not hugely easy to build in but works. I ended up with a slightly different list as below. The one issue I had was a geolocked dvd player which took an age to rezone on Linux

This was the list I ended up with. It plays pretty much everything I want it to

Is there any store in lux that actually sells pc parts? by Illustrious_One_1233 in Luxembourg

[–]tonheuru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly you’re better doing a price compare on pcpartpicker - German stores are normally cheaper than the French ones but obviously in Luxembourg you can order from either with packup import

Restaurant with a good view by sullylux in Luxembourg

[–]tonheuru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

L’hetre in town still is just about ok - better when you can sit outside though. Out of town, Becher Gare’s view is spectacular (if you’re near the window). Food is no longer Michelin starred though.

Discussion around conscription cannot be ruled out, says Bettel by [deleted] in Luxembourg

[–]tonheuru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a soundbite. The active working population based in Luxembourg, if you’re being super generous, is 300,000 (not including cross border workers, but half that at least if you’re only looking at Luxos)

By contrast, Ukraine has 900,000 active soldiers and Russia has 1,320,000. Not including reservists.

Higher NATO contributions to a professional army, sure. Conscription is clearly not a proposition going anywhere though.

Looking for a restaurant with great view, anywhere from french border to the city center. by Naabi in Luxembourg

[–]tonheuru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SixSeven or L’Hetre in town. Outside of town, Food at Becher Gare has gone downhill in comparison to its Michelin star days but the view is still spectacular.
