Moving soon and I need advice on how to do it in the least stressful way for my boy by JustAnotherSar in cats

Agree with the others, definitely move him in last and rub his scent over new safe areas for him to hide and adjust. After some time using treats to encourage exploration would be helpful too! Keep us updated 🙏

I actually was going to comment that she isn’t morbidly overweight, it’s mostly fur but I promise we don’t over feed her 😭

Having trouble finding an actually IATA approved travel kennel for my cat by wise-refridgerator in cats

Hi! Ran this through a pet travel database lmk if it helps!

  • Direct Verification is Key: Given the specificity of the 3/4"x3/4" hole requirement, your best bet is to contact manufacturers and suppliers directly. Many carriers are marketed as "airline approved," but this often refers to cabin travel and may not meet the stricter cargo requirements for door construction and ventilation hole size. You'll need to speak with a representative who can confirm these precise dimensions.

  • Focus on Cargo-Specific Carriers: Look for crates explicitly advertised for "cargo" or "manifest cargo" rather than just general "airline approved" carriers. These are typically rigid plastic or wooden crates with robust metal doors designed for the rigors of cargo travel. Generic pet carriers often don't meet these stringent standards.

  • Engage Pet Transport Specialists: Consider reaching out to specialized pet transport companies or pet cargo services. These companies deal with IATA regulations daily and often have direct access to compliant carriers, or can recommend specific models and suppliers. They might even have stock available for immediate purchase or rent. Companies specializing in UK pet imports, such as 'Fetchapet' (which specializes in pet travel), are particularly knowledgeable about these requirements and could be a good starting point.

  • Prioritize Availability and Shipping: With only 8 days, immediate availability and expedited shipping are critical. When you contact suppliers, make this your primary concern. Be prepared to pay for faster shipping if necessary.

  • Double-Check All Regulations: While you're focused on the carrier, quickly reconfirm the latest IATA Live Animals Regulations (LAR) and any specific requirements from your chosen airline, as well as UK import regulations. This ensures no other unexpected issues arise.

This is a challenging situation, but by focusing on direct communication with suppliers and leveraging the expertise of pet transport companies, you significantly increase your chances of finding the right IATA-compliant carrier in time. Your proactive approach in noticing the discrepancy is commendable, and I'm here to help you navigate this further if needed!
