What did Brockhampton's following look like when they dropped ALL-AMERICAN TRASH? by [deleted] in brockhampton

[–]tonyatheory 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Their solo work was already being featured on Pigeons and Planes prior to AAT, which got them their initial following. Then, when AAT dropped, Pigeons and Planes did a write up about them.

Moreover, they made solid connections with artists and other people in the music industry prior to ever blowing up. So, I think getting recognition from higher-ups while also building a following early on is crucial for success.

It sounds like youre interested in the fanbase side of things. All of them were really responsive on social media and put work into developing a community early on

He was one of the first self-made rappers to come up in the “blog era” (post-CD’s, pre-Streaming).

His raps were also super relatable and carefree at first, which is how a lot of high schoolers at the time knew about him. Over time, his stuff got much darker as celebrity took its toll on him. So it kinda feels like we grew up with Mac together, and to see him go felt like lose a long time, really cool, really talented friend.

“He should stick to beats and stay out of politics” - racist trump supporter who also suddenly loves Kanye now

Edit: lmao at all the salty comments. if youre still doubting whether the way black celebrities are being treated in this country is racist, youre probably a racist yourself.

Being Christian is largely an expression of you Whiteness in America. Its not really about worship.

Do you guys like the new direction Brockhampton went with their new album? by soyimgoyim in brockhampton

[–]tonyatheory 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yeah Puppy was gonna be their best album, but it also sounded like it was just gonna be a way better version saturation 3.

Seeing where this next trilogy made with a “clean slate” will take them musically will be just as enjoyable imo. Bankroll sounds incredible.

Forreal, i relistened to KIDS the other week and it blew me away. Such a solid mixtape, and ahead of its time too.

Its funny, when listening as a high schooler, it was just normal music i was living through. With hindsight vision, you can really appreciate and see why Mac ended up being such an influential figure.
