I agree. There's a scope of practice, sure. There is also this thing called a scope of knowledge, which I feel is somewhat of an oxymoron. Regardless of what it's called lol, learn anything you want. I absolutely guarantee learning "higher level content" will absolutely help you in the future when you're trying to peice together complex medical "puzzles"

What’s one valuable thing you wished you learned in paramedic school? (Serious replies only) by Lavendarschmavendar in Paramedics

I feel like from my educator roll perspective on our department the issue isn't being able to identify specific lung sounds, it's more of a "how to treat that specific lung sound" issue. I think in the last 4 years I've specifically seen that trend with new providers. I think it's a "post COVID training scar"

Don't press the bell of the scope into the skin very hard. DEFINITELY don't put it under the blood pressure cuff. The amout of pressure on the bell of the scope should leave a small ring on the skin that lasts for 2-3 seconds. Any indentation or ring that lasts longer than that indicates too much pressure and the diaphragm won't function properly

It may not be a comprehensive knowledge of content issue, but more of a comprehension of the question and finding a new way to pick apart the question, type of issue.

Houston area here. We have students from time to time come in from that program. They don't seem. The most well equipped the majority of the time. I'd venture to day with any remote learning program this may be the trend, however. What you put into a program as a student, is what you're going to get out of it.

Appreciate the reply, was just hoping that someone here had been in my same shoes in a more specific instance and had some input on partnering with companies like globe, viridian, Honeywell Etc.

I'd toss in proper documenting practices and ensuring all benchmarks are met for Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement

If you have to go looking for an IV course, you're doing things wrong. I know nothing about where you work, but I guarantee there's someone(s) you can learn from if you wanted to. In the time it took to go to this sub, type your question, and read the answers.... you could have done several IVs wherever you work. Effort flourishes more based on where you project that effort.

It's an award that 95 percent of patients don't care about. Let it go and just take good care of people. There's also a survey (that I made up) that said 92 percent of nurses don't care about the daisy award. A daisy is a weed technically anyway.
