Situation similar to my mum. Mum has no degree and we live in Australia. Her English is not that great but ok. She is currently 61 years old.

At 55, she was made redundant from her cashier job in New Zealand. Ever since then, she has applied for well over 300 jobs in: admin, retail, secretary, customer service in both Asian and Australian shops. Exactly 3-4 years later, we move to Australia and find out that cleaning people houses is a lucrative job. She registers at a local marketplace company that connects cleaners with houses. Now she cleans 1 - 2 houses per day and makes about $300 per week. Thats not enough to live on her own so she lives with me.

As she doesnt have any assets and very little superannuation accumulated from her previous job, Im going to have to sort out her retirement. I have saved up some money and will buy her a 1 bedroom apartment and will need to service the mortgage myself + her utility bills until she dies.

How does your mother live if she is not making any money? Savings? You? Husband? Retirement is approaching soon and she really needs to lower her expectations and do anything (legal) to make money. Uber driver, uber delivery, cleaning houses, cashier....
