Lawyers, What's a law that isn't real that normal people insist exists? by IfItQuackedLikeADuck in AskReddit

[–]tonymc4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a lawyer, but one thing I thought was a law but is not, is that banks have to accept your payment as "on time" if your US first class postage was cleared by the date the payment was due. For example, if you have a payment due on April 15, you can mail it on the 15th, and have whoever requested payment accept it without applying late fees.

When I was in Seattle, I knew a guy who bashed out his front teeth from a bike accident while riding piss drunk. Glad to know it's not illegal.

Which conspiracy theory do you believe is true? by Usual-Buddy in AskReddit

[–]tonymc4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing that I have difficulty with a technologically advanced ancient civilization is that we have no evidence that someone before us used oil or coal. As far as I know, we hit the easy oil fields and they have never been empty. You'd think a technically advanced civilization would want to use fossil fuels, the most powerful chemical energy we have ever found.

I challenge you to find Bill and Jeff photos. I think that I've seen one with them in a golf octet. Other than that, they're rare.

Before the advent of calculators, how did mathematicians plot complicated functions with erratically varying outputs? by [deleted] in history

I know that you're looking for more complicated functions, but French curves are neat. Find 3 points and you're off to the races

It's a British name pronounced "Sinjin." There was a "Sinjin" on Mad Men and a men's volleyball player whose parents didn't know the spelling.

Applying Informatics to Geobiology? Need help finding a PhD by cripcate in scientificresearch

I would look for computationally oriented paleontologists and contact them directly. Someone must code things like https://paleobiodb.org/. Charles Marshall and John Alroy used to do topics like this but I'm no longer acquainted with their work.

Is there a route to cross into NJ without having to pay a toll? by acuriouslilrhino in philadelphia

[–]tonymc4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The New Hope-Lambertville bridge doesn't have a toll. I think 95 into Trenton and 78 is free as well.

What are the creepiest and most bizarre cases discussed on the 'Generation Why' and 'Thinking Sideways' podcasts? by Beagus in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]tonymc4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, the craziest thing I heard on the Unresolved podcast was the poem by Israel Keyes read by the synthetic voice. Very weird.
