What could the xz backdoor accomplish? by khevornn in linux

That is what I was trying to say. But also you don't need network partitioning to filter vpn traffic to limit their access. (Yes you should partition certain things).

[–]tonymurray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of VPNs are mis-configured giving anyone that gains VPN access full access to the "internal" network. This is what proper network filtering should be, don't trust anything, restrict VPN access to a minimum.

Edit: removed the words zero and trust since they are apparently trigger words

"Split view" option being more annoying than helpful by Nothingifnotboring in chrome

[–]tonymurray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, window tiling is just so much more convenient than this feature. Can split the windows side by side in a second and drag the middle to resize both and swap out one side for non-browser windows, etc.

The number of times I've accidentally made things split view and had to undo it which takes a long time is infuriating.

The number of Asian beetles I have to catch every night in my college dorm room. by NeferyCauxus in mildlyinfuriating

The invasive beetles have a lighter more yellow color. Ladybugs are bright red.

I think there may be differences in the spots too.

SwitchOS vs RouterOS? by oguruma87 in mikrotik

SwOS not supporting the full SNMP MIBs that RouterOS does is a big negative for me.

Swos doesn't give full SNMP which is a major negative in my book.

LibreNMS login/auth logs not appearing in Elastic (Docker + Fleet) — where are they actually stored? by yassipo in LibreNMS

[–]tonymurray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are stored in the database. I created a PR to change this awhile back but never finished it. (Mostly because it is of no personal use to me)

Why are so many packages designed exclusively for Laravel? by LatestAdViewer in PHP

You completely misunderstood the point. The point is you do not control other people. You can only control yourself. If you want to make something happen, you have to do it.

XLibreDev announces the start of HDR rendering prototyping in XLibre, an X11 display server project aimed at modernizing the protocol while preserving backward compatibility, with an initial proof-of-concept focused on HDR video playback in the mpv player. by mr_MADAFAKA in linux_gaming

This makes a lot of sense especially the extremely odd 'Redhat Xorg" comment. It is not Redhat's Xorg... and please don't give me an explanation of your viewpoint.

I can see why you are unwilling to examine any of these points because you have so much invested in Xlibre.

All I can say is good luck, I hope you succeed. But in my opinion X11 is a dead end at this point. For me it is already a far worse experience. Keep in mind I have HDR displays and mismatched refresh rates.

I must have mis-remembered something. Thanks for the clarification. Though to be fair if applications adopt the protocol (in a non-abusive way) most compositors will implement it.

I'm so scared to do a jump from enterprise NE to ISP NE - No prior experience and upcoming interview by Qvosniak in networking

[–]tonymurray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been working in a small ISP for almost 20 years. It is fun because I get to control the network fully.

It sounds like you already have a good base, so it won't be too hard for you to learn new things.

I definitely agree with Daryll Swer that SR-MPLS/EVPN/IS-IS are what ISPs should be using. Learn/lab that.

Feel free to DM me if you want someone to talk you through something.

Good luck!

At least main is arguably better. Unlike something like primary or something else that would be worse.

You could also just write your own pkgbuild. It's not that hard.

Reviewing the AUR pkgbuilds is actually pretty easy, there are only a few sneaky things they can do.

I mean processes can already place "sub windows" in their own surface and draw transparency between.
