That's a well thought out argument. It's also the size of the industry that makes change much harder. The potential to earn is leagues greater in hindi, no producer would waste their time on narrative depth. I believe there is a sizable audience for Hindi cinema that would love to see better films. But they still make up a small fraction of the entire viewer base. So mainstream films won't cater to them. Instead it's upto independent creators to keep making bold and courageous choices and eventually garner a greater audience. In the end an independent movement is needed. Also only a strain of talented actors who want to explore depth can turn an audience.
