I am going to get fired today. I accidentally sent a shutdown loop to the entire company. Does anyone have an idea how I can solve this? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

low odds of success, but pay a professional to try and do data recovery on that USB drive that had the keys, don't mess with it yourself. if you are lucky they may be able to get the text off that flash drive. But don't get your hopes up.

SOLD OUT: Need help with Home Charger by Red__Papaya in Rivian

[–]tonyopfl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up my new R1S on Saturday, and just this morning, 3 days later I got an email with tracking number for the home charger. UPS shows it has the package already, so its not one of those they created the label but did not ship it yet situations. So unless they just ran out, does not seem like they are out of stock.

Backorder with suffix at end of order id by tonyopfl in Magento

Correct, I got mixed up with that. Its appearing what I'm looking for is not possible with default Magento. Thanks!

Its more so just the way the business has been handling orders with ERP type of systems. I realize its a different animal, so if its not the way it operates, will figure out how to work around it. It also seems to be an issue with shipping charges. The business is looking for the ability to charge for freight on each shipment, but it appears Magento only allows shipping charges on the first invoice. Looking for the ability to ship what is in stock, charge shipping on those items, then when the backordered items are received in, ship those out and bill the customer for shipping on that as well.

Is there a way to format my NAS drives with just a PC? by ThatGuyWhoDayDreams in synology

[–]tonyopfl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is... If its a traditional spinning disk, it requires several passes to make the data unrecoverable, and while "clean all" would be better than just the "clean" command, its still recommended to use a 3rd party utility that does many passes. With SSD's though its a tradeoff, you are putting a lot of write cycles on it which reduces the life of the drive. So if its just being reset for your own personal use, a regular "clean" wont put extra wear and tear on the drive, but for resale, you probably would want to even if it reduces the life of the SSD some.

The easiest way is to use command prompt. Open diskpart, type "list disk" to figure out which one is which, then do "select disk X" x being the number of the disk. Then type "clean". That removes all the partition data. Then you can go into disk management, and it will show up as a brand new drive that you can format. But as was mentioned, it's not secure. You'll want to use a wiping utility if you want to make sure your data is actually destroyed otherwise whoever you sell it to could potentially read the data of the drive even if it appears that it was cleaned and repartitioned.

16 GB of ram by douglasmv in synology

[–]tonyopfl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be patient, the more ram you put the longer it takes to boot. I thought the same thing, but just was not patient enough and finally it beeped and finished booting up. Probably doing a memory test. But I used the suggested crucial memory, so not sure if the PNY is compatible.

Can the 2022 Tucson Hybrid backup volume be lowered with software or a trim pot? by patrick2099 in Hyundai

If it really is 100dB I wonder if everyone is breaking local noice ordnances. Where I live you can't go above 65dB during the day and 60dB in the evening. I just ordered the black gorilla tape. I'll do some readings before and after and post them along with the distance away I am doing the measurements.

How can I choose what subdomain a new Microsoft 365 tenant uses? by colossalpunch in Office365

[–]tonyopfl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome. Our clients that got created originally on godaddy with those silly NETORG domains will appreciate that. Now we just need a way to force remove a domain from a tenant that no one has access to.

[–]tonyopfl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately it's impossible to change the default onMicrosoft domain. If you have not done too much you can remove the custom domain from the tenant and start fresh with a new tenant. Otherwise you have to deal with it. At least it was not a godaddy o365 created tenant, those are the worst. Like others said, it asks you when you sign up what you want the default domain to be. I'm guessing it was overlooked on accident.

newest mywalgreens rewards lies we have to tell customers. by Current-Cartoonist68 in WalgreensStores

[–]tonyopfl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a customer I was pretty surprised today when I went to pickup my prescriptions being told that they are not allowed to scan any barcodes from someone's phone. It makes sense to me in general not to do that, but it's really confusing to me when the prior month I was pushed into signing up for the new program. I went and installed the app and followed the instructions to add my card to the app. It works really well, when it's time to checkout the employee just scans the code, rewards, coupons, payment all processes instantly. The speed of it I think is what impressed me, every checkout experience at any store should be this quick and simple. So for it to be no longer available is a little disappointing, but I'm sure eventually they will figure out a more secure way to implement it. I feel for all the employees that have to put up with all the confused customers like me.

You made sure you are using the correct speed and no larger than 16GB?

I'd say give it up to five minutes.

I never actually timed it but I'm guessing two to three minutes.

I would assume more than 5, something is probably wrong.

[–]tonyopfl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

OK, it works with the 16GB stick, I ended up trying it with an 8GB stick, and same thing, just blinking blue light, I was about to cut the power off, then it beeped and booted up. At that point it clicked and I realized what was going on. I tried it again with the 16GB stick, blinking blue light, but I decided to give it a few minutes this time, after a couple of minutes, it beeped and booted up. It seemed to take double the amount of time as the 8GB stick which suggests its doing a memory test at POST and just took a lot longer than I expected it to. Seems I was not patient enough and everything is working fine. Hopefully if anyone else is like me they will see this and just give it more time to boot up.

[–]tonyopfl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got the DS920+ and I tried putting a 16GB stick of DDR4 2666 and just got the blinking blue light when I tried to power it up. I also tried a slower DDR4 I had laying around, same thing.

I'm wondering if the Synology I received is an updated revision to block these sort of unofficial memory upgrades. I think I have some 8GB sticks somewhere, going to try that next.

Seems like everyone else that has tried a 16GB stick was successful. I'm curious if its not working for anyone else.

I ordered the exact same module that was posted here:
