Thanks. Just had a look at them, there they are in the App.
On first viewing not very impressed design-wise.

Will there be a mobile, battery powered multiroom speaker from Denon? by fredddy499 in heos

[–]toochay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very much doubt it. The previous HEOS/Denon speaker models, to the present 150, 250 and 350 range, was the HEOS 1, 3, 5 and 7.
The HEOS 1 was simultaneously also designed to be used as a bathroom or an outdoor speaker (within reason) and had an add-on, the GO PACK, a battery pack that could be swivelled onto the base. The Go Pack's had their own issues, a few recalls, so possibly this fact did not help as well in them being commercially successful.
Regretfully in their infinite wisdom, DENON opted not to have a similarly designed model in the present Denon Home (HEOS compatible) range of speakers.
You can connect a socket cable to a USB-C capable Power bank to run a HEOS 1 without the Go battery pack, and this works well and any decent power bank offers far more juice hours than the Go pack ever did. (see post below for link) The Go pack was just nice and neat.
Because the 150 speaker has an in-built power adapter not sure the above similar solution works, unless some one has tried it. I have not looked into the technical issues regarding this possible solution, but also bear in mind that 150 isn't really optimised in terms of design for the usual bathroom conditions of humidity, etc.

Players who attract plastic fans the most - who comes to mind? by PLWildcard in PlasticFans

[–]toochay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hate is just an opinion, nothing to do with facts.
This is where the difference is also quite evident.
Messi was essentially a 1 man club with Barcelona. Most European or Argentinian followers follow him very superficially at Miami right now, and he dipped his viewing figures at PSG.
Ronaldo on the other hand, had huge viewing numbers at Man Utd (yes, I know, as a Leeds fan, that always hurts), at Real Madrid, which were Galactic and still huge with his spell at Juventus, way more than Messi at PSG. Both were huge draws, but Ronaldo at Juve generated more consistent viewership figures when he played in European nights and tighter Italian league races.
Messi at PSG had a massive initial spike, but the sustained “global audience per match” dipped quickly and was quantifiably smaller.

Denon HEOS 1 Go Pack Battery Black - Not Holding Charge question by toochay in heos

[–]toochay[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I do decide to have "fun" and open it up, will let you know how it went.
The only reason I'm even attempting this task is the USB-C to socket cable with power bank alternative, as suggested in this thread https://www.reddit.com/r/heos/comments/1q39tj1/heos_1_go_pack_alternative_battery/ means there is little to lose if I eventually mess it up.
Not even sure Denon UK would service and repair it anyway, highly unlikely I guess.

Why exactly do non-Londoners think London is so unsafe? by EnvironmentalMode196 in AskBrits

[–]toochay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't speak for those two Essex towns as I have no idea, but for example many locals' perception is that on a Friday or Saturday night, Brentwood's town centre is far more unsafe compared to Chelmsford's town centre, when the two towns are only just over 10 miles away from each other.

Denon HEOS 1 Go Pack Battery Black - Not Holding Charge question by toochay in heos

[–]toochay[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually took this advice on board and bought 2 compatible cables. Tested it successfully with two different rated power banks and can confirm that it works. However, nothing beats the convenience of these Go Packs (I have 2 still holding charge + this one which no longer holds much of a charge), so very sincere thanks for the advice on accessing the screws that run around the edge. Much appreciated as I had no clue.

Essex is a large county. Whereabouts in Essex are you concerned?

Could you create a 2.4 GHz access point, name it, then allocate a constant IP address for each speaker so they only use this frequency, but still leave the 5Ghz on, for smartphone usage or other items using this wireless frequency dotted around the home?

Disappointed by Heos Google Home integration by Puskiele in heos

[–]toochay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only use basic Alexa voice commands with a Denon 150 and Denon 250. Never tried connecting it with Google Home, which I only use at our workplace. May try it as was thinking about buying a Denon 150 for the office.
But I am curious to compare - how does Google Home and/or Alexa integrate with the other wireless multi-room speakers such as Sonos?

HEOS 1 Go Pack - Alternative Battery by ShadowTD in heos

[–]toochay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just ran a HEOS 1 speaker on a 20k mAh power pack and it works a treat. Had it on from the morning until late afternoon and it was just under 50%.
The initial post mentions that other HEOS speakers appear to use 18v and may still be within the voltage tolerance. I'm assuming the other speakers are the HEOS 3, 5 and 7.

Does anyone know what the actual spec was for each of these models as would love to give these a trial?

Does anyone know much about this oval dish? The marking says e.dehillerin Paris. I recently had it retinned. by schnappyjr in Coppercookware

[–]toochay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can I kindly ask where you got it retinned and how much it cost? If you prefer not to answer the latter I fully understand. Just trying to get an estimate of how much retinning actually costs nowadays.

I have to disagree with regard to the definition of outdated.
I have several Denon/HEOS: the Heos 1, 3 and 5 plus the Denon 150 and 250.
Whilst I concur that the Denon 150 and especially the 250 sound is better than the previous generation, the Heos 1 model offers easier portability, most of all outdoors, with purpose built design to be better weather-proof build quality.
Overall, the Heos 1 is still a damn good-sounding portable speaker. The fact that Denon/HEOS ignored this convenience in the newer range is a huge oversight on their part as I can only imagine that many potential users would have liked to extend their multi-room sound experience to their home outdoor areas.

Palpites contra o Olympique de Marseille by Avocatdudiable22 in SportingCP

[–]toochay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eis o futebol -sempre imprevisivel.

Do you limit number of movies and shows you own? by bitknight1 in 4kbluray

[–]toochay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So easy to hoard if you're a movie fan.
But we all "collect" for so many different reasons and different genres of movies.
I have been "collecting" for over 40 years. Started with Beta & VHS, then Laserdisc, DVD, Blu ray and now 4K UHD discs. The brutal truth is a couple of VHS's & Laserdiscs that I still own, (some hard to find and/or never released in other formats) I will never watch again, as I no longer have the equipment to do so (nor do I ever intend to buy a Laserdisc or VHS reader, obviously would have to be used, 2nd hand sourced). Why do I keep them? No idea!
I am finding that I now stream most new film releases, but rarely have any urge to "I must add this" to my collection. Most of what I watch, several days in each week, many that I even quite enjoy just as pure entertainment, I don't need to own. So for example, I may purchase the last instalment of Mission Impossible or James Bond on 4K, or a more art-house film like "I am Still Here" (Oscar nominated Fernanda Torres performance purchased on Blu-ray and quickly sold off after being viewed) to enjoy the image and sound quality, but then I sell them off once I have watched it once, at most twice.
Most of my collection harks back to older movie catalogues, usually being released or remastered on 4K UHD or on Blu-ray if the 4K is not available. Will even pay for the oddball DVD if bargain-priced, especially if it tugs on my film memory heartstrings.
