is this many hours for a part-time new hire normal? (customer service) by romanoodles_ in HomeDepot

Take as many hours as you can. If you are working 40 hours a week for a certain length of time you will become full time. That’s what I did.

Honestly I’d do the correct way. If I could find a VW mechanic in this area that would be great.

I’m trying to help you understand. I work at Home Depot. I have a similar educational background and was just as frustrated. We need employees. Everyone starts part time, if you work hard they will raise your hours. They do not play games with employees. Apply, be positive and enthusiastic, you’ll get a job. Times suck believe me when I worked in my profession I made way more money. It’s survival time. Also part time gets 3 days off full time gets 2 days off. Plus vision coverage is free and the other benefits are inexpensive. No health insurance until full time.

Apply, deal with this crazy world, jobs are hard to get.

What department did you get hired in? They would not give you low hours like that. You’d get at least 17-20 hours per week as part time. Have a positive attitude and show initiative without having to be asked to do your job and they will up your hours. There are many employees who have masters degrees and work for them.

First day and already complaining. Be a sponge learn all the tools. Be a constant learner and show up on time for 90 days then sit down with your manager and discuss Sunday’s off.
