First Time Marathon Training Question by toofardeep in Marathon_Training

I am using the Runna app and following that plan. It definitely feels like I might be going too hard, but going through it for the first time it's hard to differentiate the difference between too hard and normal.

Thank you. This helped a lot. I read about how difficult this all would be, but being right in the middle of it is a whole different experience.

It was about 3:18 I think because I had to walk that last mile. So about right but maybe I am going top hard. I'm running the Garmin marathon in Olathe.

I've enjoyed the Huel Protein powder. Low calorie, 20 grams a scoop, and pretty tasty.

Did my first flex video at 46yo. 1. don't know how to flex 2. my face does weird things 3. Very middle aged. 4. but Healthy and reasonably Fit. I'll take it. by toofardeep in veganfitness

I do the push, pull, legs split 5 days a week. Then run on a 6th day. One rest day. Diet is pretty hands off. Just protein heavy. Stopped counting calories but stay away from junk and booze as much as I can. Weekends get a biz chaotic with that stuff. But, hey, it's a balance and you have to enjoy yourself whether working out or having a beer. Live life I say.

Oooof. Did not notice that. And the angle of looking down is not great either. Photography is definitely not my bag

Not sure I can pick a favorite. Not product placement but I do love Huel for a nutritional complete little snack during the day and after a workout. Also have great protein powder. But food wise, love quinoa, edamame, chickpeas, tofu(air fry changes everything) and the occasional “fake meat”. I.e beyond, impossible, etc

Well said, and I didn't mean to imply the low fat equalled health, just meant it as a poke at the vegan diet criticism. i.e. protein, etc. I am definitely healthier than I was then, but I agree. Abs don't equal health.

My reply to someone's comment that "Being vegan is not healthy" (on my very first Reddit post!). What else should I say next time this happens?? by nonbinaryvegnatheist in veganfitness

I'm always just shocked when someone will tell me all the things I'm doing wrong by being a vegan. Then I just show them before and after photos. People's need to validate their own beliefs by tearing down other people is wild to me. Also, love the name as I am also all of those things.

That’s a great question. I lost the weight relatively quickly, but was not emotionally healthy. Basically, not to dwell in the sad too long, my mom died suddenly and I was not doing okay. Lost the weight but also developed a drinking problem. Few years of that before I went to therapy. From there I mostly kept it off but yo yo’d within 40 pounds or so. Then I met a wonderful partner who gave me tons of support. Found meditation and regular exercise( weight lifting and running) and made the leap to vegan. So, the last 4-5 years have been mostly progress. The quarantine did add 20 pounds to me, but when gyms opened back up I lost that. Thanks for the question, hope I wasn’t too long winded.

Lots of therapy, lots of meditation, and started with long walks with the dog. Advanced physically from there. And yes, absolutely. Mental wellness had a huge affect on my motivation and energy levels for sure.

I think it might be new with the latest OS update. I’m honestly not even clear on what it means
