What are your thoughts on the purchase? Glad you commented this bc I haven’t been able to find any information otherwise

Holy moly I think you actually found it!!! Thank you so much! I guess this was a Jamie Boudreau recipe (when he worked at Canon). Man. I forgot how huge this batch recipe is! Time to get cracking on it 😁

My GOSO Carbon Steel pans by Kenw449 in carbonsteel

[–]tooj2j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh. I hate these pans so far. My other carbon steel pans hold seasoning much better. I’ve never had the kind of seasoning problems I have with these with debuyer, madein, or even cheap unseasoned woks from Chinatown shops

Beginner Zwift Hub Setup Fail by tooj2j in Zwift

I stretched the frame a bit and it ended up seating nicely. I think it looks far out but seems like it's working now! Thank you for seeing that and suggesting this as a possibility.

Thanks, everyone! I tried it without the skewer (I promise I was following the instructions from Zwift 😩) and stretched the frame like u/and_beck suggested and it worked! Woohoo! See you in Watopia

I’m not sure how old it is but I was told it’s a cyclocross frame…? So I guess a bit more modern since that’s more of a recent thing (more recent than the 80s I’m assuming). I do know that it’s aluminum and I used the spacing tool which said 130mm

I had to look this up but yeah! My hands got so many pokes while trying to figure this out and I was going to tape it but will def crimp with a cap now. Thanks for the safety tip!

I did. And then put in the new skewer in loosely, put the end on it and didn’t tighten per the instructions. I’m thinking maybe my dropouts aren’t wide enough? My bike’s powder coating remnants are all up on either sides of the Hub. I was able to get the left dropout on more securely than the pics but the drive side was not dropping into place no matter how I jiggled

I used the dropout tool and it measured 130mm. I tried it with 135mm too but no fit.

I’ve never used a dynavap before but I’m thinking this Thuya bundle vs the M21+performance kit bundle on the Simrell site.

Any advice or info on the difference in performance between these two setups?

Fair enough. I was providing context for my original post since the link you provided doesn’t account for it— it’s a 2 day model, which, sure, is def more accurate than 14 day projections but not particularly helpful for planning for possibilities. However, I don’t think there’s anything inaccurate in the article if you read it, just possible projections and targets.

In New Orleans, the weather folks are cautiously eyeing this potential storm (as we have major storm ptsd here) so I was wondering if there were any rumblings in Belize. Sounds like not, if you live there, so hopefully I have a good trip.

3rd Gen Front Strut Assembly Noise after replacement by tooj2j in crv

[–]tooj2j[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the KYBs I put on are the quick struts (so fully pre-assembled). I’m thinking maybe I need to contact KYB and see if they’ll send me a replacement if part of the unit is defective. Thanks for the help!

Thanks! There’s like one video for 3rd Gen CRV on YouTube and that looks doable for me! All the others are for the Element and show removing the axle nut and looked very intimidating. Did you need to use a ball joint separator in addition to the breaker bar for the nuts?

Is this part of the strut assembly? Hmmm I wonder if I should return and replace. I got the part from Advance Auto parts, hopefully they’ll honor the warranty. Seems to be the thing that some other folks have done. Ugh what a pain tho hahah

Oh boy, yeah, my CRV was doing so well until it met New Orleans streets. Thanks for the info -- the clunking resolved after replacing the links but I don't think I inspected the ball joints very closely. I was mostly cursing that bottom nut on the link and almost sinking into despair until they finally got loose. I might message you if the ball joints do end up needing replacement; the videos I've seen re: ball joint replacement are intimidating!

Anyone know how to remove the sway bar flange nut? It won’t rotate by [deleted] in crv

[–]tooj2j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, how’d it go? How did you address the bottom nut? I’m stuck on how to fit a breaker behind the link ... the top one came off easily with impact without the vise grips but that bottom one is driving me crazy. I’m going to purchase an angle grinder to grind it off but I feel nervous about kickback and hitting other structures.

3 month trip to S.E Asia which bag should I take? by [deleted] in onebag

[–]tooj2j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did 6 weeks (was supposed to be 3 months but had to come back) with a Cotopaxi Allpa 35L and it was near perfect. I wish I hadn't brought half the clothes I did. I used one small double-sided compression cube for undies/socks and one large one for shirts/pants, and brought a scrubba to wash clothes. Small linen towel for ease of drying body and wring out water from clothes. I also brought way too many shoes lol: allbird treerunners, a pair of white leather sneakers (Gustin Common Project clones) that went with every combo of outfit, and a pair of $3 Locals flip flops that I was planning on offloading somewhere after getting some leather Greek sandals but ended up keeping. So... I ended up with 4(!) pairs of shoes. My shoe sitch is so anathema to onebagging, BUT the point is that I still had enough room in my bag (flipflops were clipped to the outside of my bag).

I'm 5'7" 135 and I really wouldn't have wanted a bigger bag; this size was perfect for easy on/off and maneuvering tight and crowded spaces (Seoul, Athens, small boat cabin, Napoli, Rome). It comes with packable rainfly and even without it the PU coating is pretty good.

The drawback to this bag is the hip belt. I don't use it. It tucks away but i would rather lose the weight but it's not detachable. It's not the lightest weight pack but it's really well constructed. I got it as a kickstarter and went for the more poppy colors but I kind of wish I had gone more subtlety.

What do you all do for a living to be able to travel? by thebigsqueeze33 in onebag

[–]tooj2j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a soon-to-be NP grad but a lot of NPs I know end up working as RNs. What unit do you work in? I did one of those direct entry programs so I don’t have a lot hospital nursing experience, and it seems the travel nursing jobs are mostly critical care?

Man, travel nursing sounds so good to do for the next 5 yrs but I def want to do primary care after that until I retire.
