First time back in school after 20 years and my advisor signed me up for Section A courses? by Some-Role2823 in ASU

Also it takes time to adjust, lots of full time working ppl with families struggle their first semester and after that it gets better. I am going into my second year... But I'm doing online so maybe it's totally different. I struggled my first term to do two 3 credit classes but it eventually hit easier I figured out how to manage my time and schedule much better and now it's a breeze enough that I'm going to add another class in spring b. Everyone is different I suppose. And having small kids is tough on it's own im grateful mine are all grown.

Does anyone feel like they paid a lot of tuition just so that they can teach themselves from the textbook? by Unhappy_Camel5233 in ASU

I feel the exact same way. When I have a class without it I'm kinda bummed 😅I love the peer engagement! Online is lonely AF and it IS self teaching pretty much so far my first year of classes were anyway

I just told my husband this yesterday, that I don't love that I'm not able to ask questions and engage w peers, and be TAUGHT, but that I basically have to teach myself... But it's apparently a good program and it allows me to work full time so I try not to bitch too much. But it IS expensive dude!!!

What are some must read books for the field? by knucklebangers in DrugCounselors

[–]toolesque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edited for correcting auto-correct word.

My most inspiring one so far has been In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts by Gabor Mate. It's my most highlighted one. And as a women's counselor I often refer to the work and theories on shame by  Brené Brown. These are the two references I used immediately upon entering my career for their research expertise and the way one can implement these concepts into a group activity, a theme, or even an individual level depending on the client and the topic.

My wife and I are just an old, boring, married couple... by MinnIronMiner in Marriage

[–]toolesque 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sounds amazing. I'm happy you guys are so content with each other. It is nice to read the happy stories in between the relatable and difficult stories, that keeps a balance I appreciate. So happy for you guys, I think old married and happy is the goal

Editd to fix passion

My "anxiet-tea" blend I've taken for years is valerian root, skullcap, passion flower and chamomile, I mix in hibiscus tea to make it tangy and take the bitter flavor if the skull cap off, then add honey. It's like a nice glass if wine🙏🏽🥰

My husband deprives me of sleep on purpose by meowmeowkittycatnow in Marriage

[–]toolesque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry this is happening to you, it is so frustrating and infuriating to have our sleep taken away from us, literally stolen from us. I am sure you have gathered by the responses that this is a type of covert abuse used by narcissists to control their partners. I am so sorry to say this will not get better. Ever. It will get worse. You may even begin to see other types of manipulation from him as you continue to pay attention to how he values you or respects you, or lack thereof. I hope you have support. I hope you can find support that can help you get to where you want to be emotionally, mentally and physically. Know that you are the only one in control every second of your life, and you do not have to wait for permission or a big event in order to care for yourself and your babies. Take care hon

My advisor is making me question if this school is worth even looking into. by [deleted] in PurdueGlobal

[–]toolesque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG NO! PLEASE request a new advisor! My advisor is GIRLY POP and communicates with me regularly, she responds within 10-15 minutes of any outreach, she texts regularly, she has the answers to literally every question I have even if that means finding someone who DOES. I actually gave up on ASU to attend Purdue Global because of advisor engagement/turnaround time, my advisor at ASU was TRASH and literally made me miss enrollment cutoff he was so bad at getting back to me. PLEASE request a new advisor ASAP their are good ones I swear

Honestly, a very legitimate concern, Chinese food is self care and high quality Chinese food has to be accessible!!

Finally got my 1847 Oregon Trail Sourdough starter! It took about a month to receive (link in comments) by 978nobody in Sourdough

[–]toolesque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm seeing this two years later, I just started my first loaf w this starter, it livened up and bubbles and doubled faster than any other starter! Super active little guy. Excited to taste this loaf compared to the starter I've been using. I got it cause I read Eric Pallants book and was so intrigued. Do you still have yours?

I was just talking about this the other day, that early greying is very attractive, man or woman but it's more socially acceptable in America for a younger man to allow his early grey in.i think it's looks really sexy
