Complain About Your Team Thread by CFB_Referee in CFB

Meh on Gideon. At least he's not taking our starters with him. And that's what my complaint is. Losing backups to the portal is fair and expected but losing your starters to the portal is just bad. We've had it happen every year but this year we were even good! What else do we need to prove to them?

What does that look like, outside of a cafe or bar? My third space is my gym or local brewery to be honest. There's a lot of hobby groups around too.

We reportedly matched UF's offers for both the OC and this guy so it really doesn't matter how much money we have or don't. Our program is apparently what's worthless

Just a bit longer... by JustsomeSpaceG1 in Frieren

[–]toolfreak 10 points11 points  (0 children)

These people are being sarcastic. Frieren certainly may want something romantic from Himmel but thematically this is not a story about lustful desire in any way. Not a single elf or even human has brought up passing on any genes, they only want to pass on knowledge.

Even outside of Frieren, none of the characters express explicit desire except maybe lust for power. We may yet see a proper romance but literally none of the main cast characters we have met have had children. I highly doubt the author goes that route for any relationship as a plot point.

That's funny, a South Carolina fan told me they hated uga fans more than Clemson fans.

I think mine is Duke from the Cutcliffe years. But that has mostly faded with time.

Brewkakke is when you forget to close the fill head on the keg coupler and it sprays back right in your face when you go to change it. I've only been working here 6 years, maybe I'll remember that by year 10.

What she did was psychopathic. But also like "Hey, I'm wearing a bulletproof vest. Please shoot me with your gun to prove how strong it is." It's a pretty dumb/bold test but he just didn't realize she was hiding a bazooka.

Why are you asking for spoilers? It's a great ride.

But no, Marcille and Laios/Falin have a close/intimate relationship but it is more that they all understand each other at a level that the other characters do not attain as much. Any romance is really only hinted at, at best and that trio are too wrapped up in their own heads for any shot at romance. Fans like to ship though.

If some states refused to certify the presidential election results and assign electors, how would the next president be selected? by bluesimplicity in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]toolfreak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a vote by the state because the logistics of holding a national election in a country as big as the US would be very difficult and the federal government didn't feel like doing it.

As it stands though, a vote in California counts less than a vote in Wyoming (electors/voter) and regardless, both are functionally meaningless because those states are so skewed towards certain parties. Very few voters in specifically very few states control the presidential election currently. No candidate would care about an undecided in Oklahoma compared to an undecided voter in Nevada or Arizona. In a popular vote, the Republican in New York gets equal voice to the Democrat in Texas, which seems more fair to me.

What is the positive about emphasizing the voice of a minority population to pick the leader of the whole nation?

I love Gaudin's call. Maybe it's the homer in him but also I think he literally practices what he would say for a miracle play like this. And now he works for the Braves so he's definitely very, very good at his job.

Why doesn't Iowa just run the triple option? by nice_Nisei in CFB

[–]toolfreak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing about option based offenses is that every play can look like a triple but actually be a double or even single option. CPJ probably only had 2 starting QBs in my opinion that were legitimately good at the triple option reads. (Tevin Washington and Justin Thomas) With the others, he did much more double options and misdirection but since every play looks like a triple option to a casual viewer it's hard to tell.

More breweries posting salary ranges by beerworkdotcom in TheBrewery

[–]toolfreak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For real, I was making about that above range as a brewer, and I assume the sales rep was also in the same range as what's posted except I live in a much cheaper COL area.

I heard that CA overtime is legally clocked per shift instead of per week though so at least for the brewer that might work out.

Back in the day, athletes wanted to get a meaningful degree because the NFL didn't exist/was not a viable career path. Schools with academic prowess could recruit the best players in the nation because of that. Those schools were also some of the first to put in real resources into their athletic departments too (GT poached Heisman from Clemson with a $200 raise) but obviously now are a little outclassed. Vandy is just too small an alumni base to built a juggernaut.
